Protein shakes for females?

I was using ON Gold Standard but just find it so hard on the stomach, it's gassy and my stomach makes gurgling noises for hours afterwards and it has a horrid after taste so I stop taking it.

Recently I was recommended one by the staff in Holland & Barratt called Maxitone Definity which was designed for women with 24g of whey protein per 30g serving, however, even though the staff said the company designed the product aimed at women, there was little or no difference between it and the Promax version aimed at men.

So basically my question is: Would anyone rate Definity as Very-good to Excellent and how was it on the stomach because it is quite expensive at the recommend serving of twice a day.

    Thank you.

I did think of that but I have never drank milk so I'm not sure. I have no problems with cheese or yogurt though so I don't think so.

Men/women specific shakes are made because women are afraid mens shakes will make them HUGE.

The sad part is most guys will never get huge taking those shakes anyway despite investing a lot of time and effort into it, therefore women should really have NO fear.

Essentially what I'm saying is - there's no difference and maximuscle stuff is also very overpriced.

I always found ON to be one of the easiest on the stomach. It could be an intolerance, It might be worth trying a dairy free protein.

You could try drink a pint of normal milk and see what happens?

Your body probably wouldn't be used to such quantities if you've never drank milk.

I find the maximuscle and ON stuff light on the stomach. I think you have a dairy in tolerance as well. Maybe try some soy protein?

I'm lactose intolerant, buy some lactose-free milk in tesco (beside the normal milk) and try with that

Whey supplements designed for women are a silly marketing ploy. You said yourself that there is little or no difference in the content.

This kind of carry genuinely upsets me. How in the name of jaysus can you "design" protein specifically for women? Do men and women have different digestive systems now?

Go to a supplement shop and buy some samples or go to myprotein.com. What ever tastes the best, has the highest % of protein per scoop and doesn't upset your belly is the one for you.

I was taking the mint choco flavour with water...I hate milk, I only ever have soya milk with my porridge in the morning but that's it.

Make your own Lactose reduced/free milk. It can work out at 88c per litre (depending on what milk you buy) rather than €2 a litre!

How much water were you adding and how much powder?

Perhaps the mint aspect could have been a factor?

ON have some digestive enzymes added.

Have you tried any other brands of protein?

Try samples of other brands and flavours. If your fine it's the flavour/brand.
If you still have problems try get samples of protein that's not made from milk, if your fine it's the milk/lactose

Does kinetica have more digestive enzymes/probiotics?
I did think of that but I have never drank milk so I'm not sure. I have no problems with cheese or yogurt though so I don't think so.

This really annoys me and so many people do it, you can't hate something you never had. You can only hate the idea of it.

It does but its a different blend IIRC. Worth trying as they use a different flavouring system and protein blend

My mistake, when I say 'I never drink milk' I mean I never drink it because I hate it but of course yes I have drank it before and yes I hate it.

Both Kinetica and ON use Aminogen. Not sure if the same dosage. They do not have probiotics.

A number of brands over here use Digezyme and they also have Probiotics in there as well.

Another, how much water were you using and how much powder?

Did you ever sample another flavour?

I personally would not see Mint as a 'safe' flavour.

Don't know if there is such a thing as a 'safe' flavour but something like Vanilla may be safer etc.

Could you try eating more protein from whole foods?
