Ok folks half canned here watching a couple of shows I've recorded on sky plus, savage eye & the mario rosenstock show & irish pictorial weekly. The under current of these shows is political as in taking the piss out of our past, present & even a bit of the future, even though I like some of these shows I think they sum up the collective feeling of the country, downtrodden, hard done by & sure we can laugh at ourselves. Our latest comedy shows aimed at my fellow 30 sometings(& 20's & 40's) which we find funniest?? are the one's closest to what we are all feeling & best explains our rage.Basically what I'm saying is we're happy to sit on our arses & laugh at our situation through satire & talk about how ****ed up things are, fair play to these guys espcially savage eye for telling us docile folk how it is.Ah sure if we can't laugh at ourselves sure everyone else may as well laugh at us.I applaude the people who make these shows even if they fall on deaf ears,
    peace

    Apres Match.
    Bull Island.
    Scrap Saturday.

It's not a new concept, even in this country.

You're a genius OP and you're also 30 something, something which no generation ever was before. How do you do it?

I remember reading a quote before that said that through humour, you can soften the worst blows life delivers and that once you find laughter, no matter how hard or painful your situation is, you can survive it! It really stuck with me and I guess we really see that applying with these shows! :)

In some ways we have grown up, in others we haven't....our relationship with drink, the new generation of parents who may be raging athiests but still send the kids thru all the religious stuff, the A-word....

Comedy like that has been around since Hall's Pictorial Weekly (and before that no doubt) of which Irish Pictorial Weekly is its namesake.

This impression/sketch show rubbish, is that the best we can do these days. Most of them think they're funnier than they are.
