Microsoft Office?

Not sure if this is in the right thread or not but..

My mam has bought me a laptop for Christmas and I was planning on buying Microsoft Office for it. After doing some looking around on the internet I found that there's a new one coming out soon? Should I wait for the new one to come out to buy one or what? Any help would be appreciated

If you buy Office within October 19, 2012 to April 30, 2013 you'll be able to upgrade to Office 2013 free of charge.

You could always use LibreOffice in the mean time, I must admit having used Office 2013 it's pretty slick, not much different that 2010 except it integrates with cloud services like sky drive better and comes with a slicker UI. LibreOffice on the other hand may suit you fine, plus its free

Office 2013 is a good update, the way text appears in word and cell formulae update in excel is pretty sweet. Flash fill in Excel is very handy for splitting up columns. The ability to open and edit pdfs in Word is also useful when you want to copy tables in a pdf into Excel.
