Hi, newbie here. Have been offered an old 81 camper, but was brought over from germany and never driven here as box gave up the ghost and was just left in a barn. It has the german logbooks in it, plus person selling it says they can get me a co-signed receipt of sale off last registered owner for me, but have no idea if i would still be able to register it over here, or what paperwork i'd need to show.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Thanks

As far as Im aware its against the law to sell a vehicle in Ireland that is not registered in this country, so the seller may need to get that side of it in order before they sell to you.

If you appear in the vrt office with the German reg doc and a recent dated receipt and 200 euro they should do it

Forgot to say that woman who brought it over apparently did so on "export" plates, which she then took with her... Tis a lovely van and too good just to scrap.

....sorry, but that's just plain nonsense.

OP - you'll have no issue so long as you the Kfz-schein, which would look something like this:

    kfzschein.jpg

With chassis no etc on it you'll have no problem - I reg'd an early 80's Yamaha DT175 some time ago under similar circumstances: bike had been sitting in someone's shed here for years on German plates. All Revenue want is the money.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

    For rereg you'll need-
    German reg docs
Test cert, or roadwothiness test at the NCT/VRT centre
    PPS no. on official documentation
    ID
    Proof of add.
Purchase receipt, you can write this yourself
    Ferry or haulier receipt
    €200
You also need to have a DOE test before you can tax it.

    Thanks for all info guys
Van at present isn't running, have engine running but issues with box and/or linkages, plus coil etc could do with replacing.
Have the kfz schein and the other one too, plus some old service invoices etc. Will i have to tow the van to the test or tax office to physically show them its in the country? Or best to get running beforehand? And as it's vintage, will a simi reg mechanics report do or does it still need to be doe'd...
    Thanks again
    aujo, have pm'ed you, cheers

It will need to be running and roadworthy for VRT.
After VRT you will have an Irish reg, you then DOE it, then you can tax it.
