Trying to find out how to replace rear bump stop on my 2006 Renault modus. I failed the NCT ony have 10 days left to get them done.
After being given the run around by a few workshops and Renault asking me for €140 to do the job, and get this, they can only do it in mid January. I went and bought the rear back stops for €16 and want to do it myself. They are the correct Renualt back stops for my car as I bought them from Renault.
Can anyone guide me how to do the job?

it is a simple job. you need to jack the car up using a proper jack [not the car jack]make sure you have axle stands. with the car raised you can fit the bump stop into position by putting your hand in through the coil spring. any mechanic should be able to do this for you.

I think its a bit more involved that that. If its the bump stops for the dampers, then the damper (sometimes called shock absorber) will have to be stripped from the car and so depending on the suspension setup (Macpherson strut/independent rear) can be quite labour intensive. From emory though I think that the rear dampers are secured only by two bolts. Jack up rear of car, support on axle stands, the place jack under the trailing arm to take the load off the spring then unbolt and remove the damper...

Thank you so much Renohead, I bought some axle stands and a proper jack in Halfords for €41 reduced price, and was able to do the job in less than 5 mins. Cant believe it failed the NCT due to this and thinking it is a bit of a con. Also Renault charging €130 for such a simple job. Thanks once again Renohead

Passed my NCT by doing this job myself. It was the easiest thing to replace, once I used axle stands and a propper jack. How Renault can justify €140 to do the job, I dont know? At least 80% would have been profit
