Are the early bird and installment tickets sold out? Bugger it anyway if they are.

still on sale at the link above. ticketmaster might have been having a fit earlier if they weren't showing up......

Thank you! I swear I wasn't going mad earlier, they definitely were showing unavailable :D

maybe a stupid question but what's the price after the early bird? weren't weekend tickets €100 last year at the regular price?

Yeah I noticed that too,I take it the full price ones must be going up to 120

Also, if you look at the listing on Ticketmaster, it states 3 day weekend camping tickets. Last years early bird tickets were 2 day camping with an option to add a Friday camping ticket at extra cost.

It appears B&S is moving to an official 3-day festival this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

This may sound a bit "bah humbug" but I must say I really liked the Friday night vibe last year with only the woods open and less people around.

So I say "boo" to a full 3 day fest.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

... and while I'm moaning about a generally fab festival (that I bought my 2013 earlybird for straight away), what is with having headline acts like Spiritualised only play for one hour?

That really p!ssed me off last year - should be at least a 90 minute slot for the bigger name acts (especially when they have a 20 year back catalogue of gold, largely consisting of songs lasting 10 minutes or so...)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 536 ✭✭✭Evil Sausage

Looks like the Early Bird tickets are all gone.

Full price tickets on sale shortly at €139

Balls to that... price hike to €140?!
Just went online this morning (payday) to buy wifey's birthday present and they're not available anymore!

would want to see the lineup before paying that tbh.
although it's only a €15 increase on last year if you went down on the Friday, so it isn't too bad really.

I couldn't make it last year... were the ticket prices €124 for the full wknd?
I thought it was 99 regardless. That's a perfect price in these times. I was kinda hoping B&S didn't go down the Picnic road and start jacking up prices once popularity set in!! :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

it was 2-day for €99, and then there was a Friday camping add-on available for €25 if people wanted. as Evil Sausage pointed out earlier in the thread, it seems to be now a 3-day festival, so presumably there'll be a few established acts on the Friday. from what i can remember last year it was mostly smaller Irish acts/DJs on the Friday, and then the bigger names on Sat/Sun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

actually, seemingly not any big acts on the Friday, looks like the same as last year really...
    http://entertainment.ie/music/news/Body-and-Soul-promise-more-grown-up-experience-for-2013-festival/161571.htm
2013's incarnation of one of our favourite summer festivals, Body & Soul, will see the Friday add-on ticket idea abandoned and instead a new three-day ticket will be in place, to what we've been told will be a more "grown-up" environment in the idyllic surrounds of Ballinlough Castle in Co. Meath.

The opening day of the festival will see the festival's guests treated to an exclusive programme of events in the woodlands surrounding the festival site and the Stone Walled Gardens. The main stage will open for business on the Saturday afternoon.

2013's festival will take place across the June Summer Solstice Weekend, just as the inaugural festival did in 2010, and the there will be a bevy of activities to take part in from the moment you arrive, such as yoga in the Zen Gardens, arts trails, artisan food stalls and much more. If you're pulling around a couple of kiddies in tow, there will be a dedicated Soul Kid's Garden to ease the burden.

Now, there isn't yet any information about who'll be on the bill this summer but we're expecting a line-up announcement sometime in mid-March. Tickets for the festival are on sale now, from usual outlets.

Weekend tickets are available for purchase in easy instalments. An initial payment of €69.50 is payable before and up to Tues 30th April and a second and final instalment of €69.50 + €6.35 service charge payable on Fri 7th June. If opting for the Combined Event & Bus ticket, the instalments are €84 each plus service charge.

If memory serves, the walled gardens were not open on the Friday last year.

Last year, all that was open on the Friday was the woodlands.

Sounds to me like potentially all that will be closed this year could be the Main Stage, depending on how you interpret things...

So it mean a lot more small areas open this year like the Casa Habana, Dance Tent (whatever that was called...) and numerous other little spots banging out tunes around the gardens...

I don't think they could sell 3 day tickets and then have as little on the Friday as they did last year.

Woodlands doesn't have the space for the full crowd...

When do full priced tickets go on sale?
Will in coincide with the line up release?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

And anyone know when we'll get a line-up?

    Soon I guess?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

just googled it, and last year it was 20th March, so should hopefully be within the next few weeks.
busy month for the festival announcements....

Well seeing that there is not a squawk from EP as yet, the line up for this should be cropping up over the next few days, should be interesting.

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

So is the line-up announcement tomorrow?

    Hope so....

Can we have Mount Kimbie and/or Nico Jaar please!

would love to see Mount Kimbie there, heard a new song of theirs last week and it sounds great.

yep, tomorrow is what B&S have been saying anyway, although today is the Equinox, so maybe it's today...

Sea Sessions is happening the same weekend and also announcing its line-up tomorrow.

Quite different festivals but might be a little lineup overlap. Fat Freddies Drop, Bastille and Soak already confirmed for SS.

    Wow......just, wow

Really interesting looking collection of acts here.

The "wow" factor of the Nick Cave booking is tempered by the fact that I'll be seeing him @ Primavera but I reckon seeing him at Ballinlough will be a more special occasion than the Parc del Forum. Plus my better half will now actually be genuinely looking forward to one of the musical acts rather than just looking forward to a hot tub in the woods :)

Delighted to see Mmoths on here - also Solange, Charles Bradley, Willy Mason, George Fitzgerald, Iron Curtis all sounding good to me

Also will be kind of legendary to see Johnny Rotten live!

    What a line up.
    Another Wow..

Wow! is right... I'd like to think I know a fair bit about music and I only recognise 2 acts in that lineup?!
Both of which I wouldn't go see in my back yard...

I do yeah! but obv not to your tastes...
I doubt I'd be alone in calling that a poor lineup for it's price.

Think Longitude is the way forward this year.

Are there more acts to be announced or is this it?
Nick Cave, PiL and Solange are strong for me, must do some investigating into the other names.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,032 ✭✭✭homerun_homer

I was hoping to go this year but once again can't :( Plenty of other festivals to make up for it but I really want to experience Body & Soul.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

Definitely a case of "horses for courses" on the line-up.

If you like Nick Cave, you will be going "wow" - he's one of the best live performers I've ever seen, and the new album is his best in ages. I predict an epic show - as long as the organisers don't have an epic fail moment and only give him a one-hour slot (i'm still bitter about how short the Spiritualised slot was last year...). His gig at Liss Ard in the 90s is in my personal "Best 5 gigs ever" list, and BnS is well capable of providing an atmosphere to match it.

If my music taste was as guitar focussed as it used to be, then most likely this line-up wouldn't do a lot for me.

Aside from Nick Cave, all the stuff that grabbed my eye is either pop/soul acts like Solange or Charles Bradley, or the electronic acts like Mmoths, George Fitzgerald etc.

And also, most of the above I know very little about. I just feel like I will enjoy them a lot at Ballinlough.

Another reason to be excited (and to shell out the cash for the weekend) is that I feel like BnS is about a lot more than the music. I had a great time there last year, but most of it was enjoying the woodlands, the random DJ's that weren't even worthy of being listed on the official line-up, the food stalls, the hot tubs etc.

So for me, with my tastes, and with the potential absence of EP, going to this feels like a no brainer. Longitude says it's going to be more than just a music festival - I know BnS is.

Will Nick et Al do the Sunday I wonder.
V tempted to bring the missus and kids on a day trip!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 887 ✭✭✭kormak

I agree totally. Body & Soul is an amazing wee festival, love it to bits.
More than just the music... the setup, the atmosphere, the quirkyness of it all!!!
Just not feeling this year's lineup one single bit, as opposed to previous years.
It's funny how blinkered people are becoming with the Nick Cave announcement and nothing else.
Take him away and it's a very weak festival lineup so far.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,539 ✭✭✭ghostdancer

    preferred last year's tbh.
don't like PiL at all, and Nick Cave never did much for me.

Pantha Du Prince and George Fitzgerald would be the only 2 that i'd be especially happy about, although GF is in Dublin next month anyway...
like bits of Solange, Charles Bradley, Kurt Vile and John Hopkins, so should probably check them out properly.

as grudgehugger says above though, it's definitely a festival that is about a lot more than the music, so not having to race from stage to stage allows you time to enjoy the other things and general vibe at it. every year at EP for example, i never get to see any of the "other" stuff really, because from 3pm onwards there's always an act i want to see.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,355 ✭✭✭cruhoortwunk

Adultrock, Willy Mason, MMoths and RSAG will be worth a look. I got an early bird ticket but I wouldn't pay €145 for them

Just out of interest, how long did Spiritualized play for last year. Was gonna head down (they would've been the main reason) but didn't in the end

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭autotrader

That looks like a fairly rubbish line up compare to last year:o

You'd think with EP not announced yet they may have picked up a few more marquee names. I can't imagine many people would have many of those acts on their must see list

I'm sure it will be great craic anyway but it's a but of a marmite line up

Some nice additions here from On The Record
Latest additions to the Body & Soul festival which takes place at Ballinlough Castle, Co Westmeath from June 21 to 23:

    **** Buttons (hell yeah!)
The Congos (“Fisherman” will sound ace in that setting)
Kate Boy (Stockholm-based band playing as part of their first ever tour)
Forrests (Dublin-based two-piece with a soon-come debut album under their collective oxters)

They join the previously announced Solange, Nick Cave, PiL (featuring sexist numptie John Lydon), Charles Bradley, George Fitzgerald and many more. We hear that more acts will be added to the bill in the coming weeks.

Weekend camping tickets for the festival are €139 a pop (plus TM rebates tax) and are now on sale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 958 ✭✭✭grudgehugger

    F*ck B*ttons is a great addition :)

No word on whether they have new material coming out - I assume they do.

    Fantastic news.
