    Hello,

I'm entitled to a British citizenship because my father was born there. My problem is that i'm applying for an internship in London in which i need a work visa if successful in getting the job. A few deadlines for applications to companies are coming up soon so I'd like to know if will successfully get my citizenship. Normally I would get the citizenship only for the fact that im going to be out of Ireland (In china) from 06/01/13 until 10/06/03... I'm just wondering if in the application process, will i have to do an interview in the embassy to get my citizenship? Since i will be in china, this may prevent me getting the British passport? Any help greatly appreciated! :)

    Thanks,

    John

You don't need a work visa if you're an Irish citizen.

Irish people don't need a work visa for Britain.

You shouldn't need a work visa because Britain and Ireland are in the EU. From having an Irish passport you're eligible to live and work anywhere in the EU. You won't need a British passport.

Apart from this being the wrong forum for discussing this, the best way advice is to contact the embassy as they will probably offer better advice than being blasted with something, they are also unlikely to reference your mother unfavourably or inform you that it's a thinly veiled attempt to say you are going to China.

If you're Irish there are no restrictions on you working in the UK.

Shure I'll go in your place. Be grand like. Just PM me your details and I'll forward on my address for all the lovely cash expenses I will incur.

    €10,000 should do it.

*May or may not actually attend interview*

you probably need a British passport to work for the MOD.

I've a cousin who works for some U.S. government weapons manufactures but he needed to get US passport(through his wife) before he got the job, the family are all proud of him:rolleyes:
