I have, cant find the difference in characteristics of the material used from one product to another.
Wouldn't be a very hard question to answer if you were familiar with their pipes.

Syd can be a bit abrupt when he thinks everyone should now this stuff. Why do you want to use the black pipe? Is it cheaper? You'd have to ring wavin and get the answers from their technical dept.

    Hey,

Well i know they make them in two different colors,my builders providers said they can get the black sewer pipe on request but its more expensive.
Was just curious if the pipe was made from the very same plastics with same strength etc

I might give wavin a bell tomorrow and see,i want the black pipe partly for the aesthetic reasons,i know the strength of the orange sewer pipe is good for what i need..

    Cheers

    ~AFAIK
there is the regular sewer in orange

then there is a black "gloss" finish sewer for use on housing sides from toilets down to ground level, same strength as the orange..more expensive.

then there is a matt finished black pipe for water gullies etc, not as strong as the orange, considerably cheaper. would be used for underground ducting etc.

Orange Wavin is used underground or internally where will be boxed in etc.
If used externally over time due to the UV rays will fade from orange to an awful looking greyish color and breaks down eventually.

Black Wavin is therefore used externally sat for example where a 1st floor toilet soil pipe come down the outside of a building as this will remain black over time and therefore looks much better. This is the reason it is more expensive.

Once it reachs ground level it can be joined into your normal wavin sewer fittings. Both systems are interchangable, both same size etc etc.

Orange can be used internally with boxings but needs to be insulated so as to prevent sound transmission etc.

thats pretty much the long and the short of it. There is more technical reasons etc which I dont see the need to go into.

    Hope this helps
