re-roofing old farm building??

Not the best idea, to try to house animals in old dwellings, the houses don't usually have enough ventilation and get stuffy and can promote bad health. For use in the short term it would be fine, but not longer term. Also, cleaning out the house will be a nightmare for you.

If you are talking about two or three animals why not consider a straw bale shelter, it would do for a full season and could be disassembled easily when done.

On the house you have shown, how long has it been since it was used as a dwelling house? There shouldn't be any issues with replacing like for like with the slates for repairs. When it was a dwelling house there are no grants available to maintain it, that I know of. Heritage grants are available to maintain old farm buildings, but the deadline is passed for this round, it closed in October I think.

I presume you would use galvanise or cladding to re roof so you would be looking at around 2k to re roof i would think.

As PUT suggested: Re-slating would be straight forward. Convincing a planner to re-roof with crinkly tin may prove more difficult.

Straight forward yes but a lot more expensive especially for a farm building, I don't see planning being an issue,it's just a straight forward re roof of a farm building.

I sell Roof Cladding, and also have cows, but looking at the wee farm house I would say keep it the way it is, use it for something else, like a wee store or office or something else, as it would be a lot of work cleaning it out through that wee door after after a couple of cows and it would also be a bit stuffy ventilation wise, which may cause health problems for the animals, though you could open vents in the side walls to rectify that.
You could re tile it, or get tile effect cladding or just corrugated or box cladding which costs from around €5.60 per metre

But all told I would keep the house the way it is, and build a new shed out behind it or somewhere else around your holding
