Does running the 53B to Heuston mess up rosters?

Got on the 53B tonight from Dublin Ferryport, asked specifically to go to Heuston and paid the €4 fare. Went upstairs, and after Busaras, where presumably the downstairs emptied out, the driver shouted up the stairs while driving asking was there anyone on the bus going to Heuston. Turns out it was only me. No response from the driver when I called down to him, instead there was what sounded like a annoyed conversation on a radio.

When I got off at Heuston, unusually, the driver didn't respond when I thanked him. Normally I wouldn't take any notice of this, but I have wondered was actually finishing the 53B run having a negative impact on that driver and that in fact it was normal for the 53B to effectively finish at Busaras?

If so, Dublin Bus may well want to have a rethink about providing a connection to Heuston. If it was so inconvenient for the driver to finish the run I would rather have got on the tram at Busaras.

The 53B is a private hire by Irish Ferries. There should be no question that if the route states Heuston that there service should run to Heuston. Irish Ferries pay DB for the service and the fares collected go to IF not DB.

If you have a complaint, contact IF.

    Which departure was it?

The 1730 bus goes to Heuston, but the 1905 is only supposed to go to Bus Aras.

I have no grounds for a complaint, after all the bus did get me there. However it did seem like a big deal that we were going to Heuston at all, even though it was scheduled to go there.

For clarity it was the 1730 bus.

The 17:30 Bus is not supposed to go the Hueston at the moment

The timetable is being changed this week though to allow for a guaranteed connection for the 0805 sailing and possibly another Hueston pick up. I'd say the driver got confused.

Per the Dublin Bus website (which appears to be the new timetable) it does go to Heuston:

To be honest it just sounds like there was some confusion as to which timetable was operating.

As per this new timetable on the Irish Ferries website the 17.35 from the ferryport does go to Heuston, arriving there at 18.10hrs.

Dublin Bus is being paid by Irish Ferries to run the service. A genuine mistake/mix-up can occasionally happen anywhere but any reluctance to operate a service as per contracted timetable (should such reluctance occur on any occasion) is indefensible (short of road closure, a security alert etc...). Staff are paid regardless and there are plenty of people in need of a job.
