Accident on Keyboard

Had bit of a spill on my keyboard of the laptop last night, just a wee bit. Took off the keys and gave it a good wipe, keys work but if I press certain ones together another gets pressed as well so it's not functional for typing.

Bought another keyboard this morning, so grand but should I disable the keyboard or something, could it short circuit? or will it eventually dry up and work again?

Just to be clear, your onboard keyboard is acting up after a spill, and your now using an external keyboard through the laptops usb port?

Yup, just wondering if the laptop is gonna fail at some point over this mishap?

Sugary stuff like coke is notorious for corroding keyboards and should be avoided.

People have opened their laptops and left them in the airing cupboard for a day or so to dry them out. I'd suggest doing this and keeping an eye out for a new keyboard, they're not too difficult to replace. If the external keyboard you're using now is working fine, it would suggest to me that the damage was done to the onboard keyboard and not the motherboard. :)

It's only 4 letter/keys that are giving trouble on it, like if I press c, cv or vc comes up, f and e are gone a bit weird but the external keyboard works, no problems with it. I'll try airing it for the night. I can get the keys off but I'd say there's another layer below...I'm wondering can i get access to that for a thorough clean...or would I be pushing my luck since I'd probably break it knowing me.

I'd take a look on ebay and buy a new keyboard tbh, they're not that expensive and if you're careful and follow a you tube dismantling video for your laptop, do it yourself.

Thought I would give an update as my keyboard is working again. :) I didn't do anything in the end just left it and 5 days later all is well...so semen isn't that bad a spill after all :pac:
