anyone just see what he said?

he was challenged on why labour said 'protect child benefit, vote labour' during the last election campaign

his reply was 'isnt that what you do during a campaign'

cant wait to see the papers in the morning and i can safely say i will never vote labour again. they will go like the greems methinks

missed the show, but sounds disgraceful. You expect them to think it and do it, but just not say it.
Bit of a slip on his part alright

That is low. They're a genuine affront to politics. You can ridicule FF and FG all you want, but they're meant to be the labour party ffs. Even at the worst of times would you expect something so cynical. Talk about cracks showing.

A politican telling the truth about telling lies!.

I'd like to say Labour are f*cked after this term but with the rise in support for FF who f'king knows with idiots in this country.

True enough, they're too busy out socialising to get any work done. usually dying in work the next day as well.

I'm slightly  when people say "you expect them to think it and do it but not say it". I don't, I expect the batsards to do what they say they'll do. Now there's a mad idea..

I thought that was what he had said but I wasn't sure that he would say something so foolish.

He looked suitably embarrassed when Pierce Doherty pointed out that Pat Rabbitte on a salary of €190,000 loses the same amount of income on the abolishment of the PRSI as someone on Minimum Wage! Quite sickening when you think about it.

The really sickening thing here is none of them are worth a fcuk and you're left voting for the lesser of two evils. They're all a bunch of spineless fcuks.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,327 ✭✭✭Merch

I hope in response to this, that people dont just vote in FF.

Like last time around, when everyone thought FG was going to come in on a white horse and save us all, when all they did was more of the same, look out for their mates, despite all their promises lies.

what is needed, is for FF, FG and Lab (or green) not to be able to form a Govt.

The thing is, all these gob****es do is sign off what the civil service give them, they dont even read the stuff unless its important and even then I'd say its only a summary and I'm sure its all just explained to them.
When they are all on Dail Holidays, how do people think the country keeps running without them??

And what else then? laugh and joke in the dail like its a big game? Im sure it is a big game to them on their power trips, well between that drinking in the bar and making prank calls.
The amount of times Ive watched Dail debates and the Ceann Comhairle has ruled people out (or whatever its called)for making what I thought were legitimate enquiries because of formaility bull****.

Isn't if they only get a certain vote, their funds go south too? and I dont mean Rio.

Just vote for everyone else, anyone else and give everyone a preference except the above as they are fcking useless gutless bunch.
cuts left right and centre (no puns intended) except for own wages?? wtf!

I'm willing to bet my house, car, wife, kids, even throw in the dog too- that:

Some of these minimum wage earning folk have worked harder in the one week to earn their minimum wage than Pat (and many more in DE) has probably done in his life. (political one anyway)

Is this the man who when as leader of labour, dramatically lost the leaders live debate by stating when an economic policy question asked of him.

We'll find the money in the bottom drawer!

Even the parties that don't exist yet are going to do this. If this is enough to put you off Labour I wouldn't bother voting in general elections again.

It's scant consolation that FF or FG would just try to bull**** their way around the point and certainly shouldn't encourage you to vote for them instead.

The big problem is who do we elect in the next general? Sinn Fein would be dumbfounded in a position of power because they wouldnt know what to do, FF would be delighted that managed to pull the wool over the nations eyes again and FG/Labour would be enjoying their big fat pensions...they really are all as bad as each other and we arent even in control of our own finances here (hello Germany) so seriously, who will save us...Mick Wallace??

Im not sure they would be dumbfounded, I voted Lab and a host of others
and i didnt give FF one vote, wouldnt but not for one miilisecond did I believe that FG would be any different.
Now, I think the time is for anyone else, as all Lab and in particular FF and FG have said about SF is oh you cant vote for them rabble rabble rabble, why? because it affects their political dynasty monopoly, jesus lads its time for a change.
At this stage I dont think anyone could do any worse than FF and FG have or their hanger ons, Lab or greens.
SF have asked some rally good questions and I think the labelling of them by FG and FF is undemocratic.
Not because I am some ardent SF fan or want them in or a united Ireland or any of that shyte, because I think they believe in something, not Like Kenny et al, bunch of robbing bstards

Look the politicians just laugh and joke and its all for show, they are mostly best buds and anyone that comes in and tries to change is rocking the boat and they wont have that.

They dont even do the work, they have the civil service and hired in experts for gods sake, they just babble on and waste time while people are on trolleys in hospitals or not getting treated as they haven't got the balls to do what is necessary, because if you rock the boat, you wont get along and if you dont get along you wont go far and then you wont get a nice big fat pension.
You dont want to be the one that ended your family dynasty now,

There must be some kind of mad logic,
something goes wrong and it keeps happening, so we keep doing what we are doing. Are we thick as a country?

Ive no doubt there are good individual politicians in the large parties, but towing the line for the party to me, is unpatriotic.

Look; Rabitte is one of the better ones, no doubt in my mind about that.

he gave a quip - one close to the bone. naughty, but i'll forgive it.

the first question one need ask oneself re: politicians is this.

Is this guy/ girl in politics primarily to benefit themselves or to benefit the country?

That's it. Competence etc are important seconds, but that's the first.

As for the burrower, my strong opinion is that he's primarily in politics to benefit the country.

Rabitte came from that world and still lives in it.

The thing with him is that his controls his emotions, but then on occasion, he throws out a cynical barb - an ironic statement - he exaggerates something to absurdity, or summarizes an impossible situation into a throw-away remark. It's annoying for sure, but it's not a reflection of his true beliefs. I'm saying this as someone who's watched him closely (on tv) for 15 years.

this comment can be interpreted as uncaring, but i know in my bones, it's the opposite. It's frustration.

Having said that, Labour should have stood firm against such an non-progressive cut, and insisted child benefit was excluded, or taxed at the highest possible rate (so only the rich dont get it)

Labour campaigners called to my house a few years back, giving me spiel about how he'd bring work for us young people.

I asked how, they gave me utter waffle about how he'll try hard and whatnot. I said I was unemployed at the time and that finding IT work in my field in the west of the country was difficult to which they said in a smarmy voice:

"Computers? Sure, isn't there loads of jobs for that?"

    Indeed.

    Gotta love this country alright.

Started a thread on After Hours last night on this very topic, and it was shut down within six minutes by the ego-power-trip maniacs.

Surely moderating a forum is about controlling abuse etc. Why would you want to control what people want to discuss? If a thread is unpopular then it will just disappear. You have to laugh.
