That's only the average pay! My CV is already on the way! I think I'm ready to move onto the big time.

Seriously though there are quite a few aviation jobs like that around Ireland, maybe not as well paid. You never hear much about them.

I'm not joking about the CV either. I've been looking to move into something similar for a while.

If I recall the stories from the days of GPA, there is a savage amount of travel involved in those jobs. Not everyone's cup of tea.

It's the nature of aviation jobs. Expect to travel a lot, sometimes at short notice. Many people bring their passports to work with them. There is nothing quite like ringing home to tell them you'll be a bit late due to the fact that you're in Germany. Like the time many years ago when I lived at home ringing to let my Mother know I was actually in Scotland. A sister answered. She wasn't having any of it. 'No you're upstairs in your room!' 'No really I'm in Scotland.':D

I remember a colleague was sent to Singapore. On his return he was turned around and sent straight to America. I hate to think what the jet lag was like.

IBM used to have an airline support office in London, all of the team had 64 page passports and the number of visa stamps they all had collected was unreal.

You end up being a martyr to the suitcase and the hotel room and it just wears you out. The amount of your life you lose in time wasted in airports, taxis, buses, waiting to meet people, waiting for tools and spares to turn up/be found/get through customs, etc, etc, is just unreal. Nine times out of ten, a telecon in advance would have saved a whole lot of bother and you need to have switched-on back-up at home. It also has a serious impact on family life.

    regards
