    Hi,

Newby to Boards so hope I am not breaking any conventions, and if I am apologies upfront.

Have been experiencing problems with Astec 63DV alarm recently. With help from here managed to replace battery successfully and got rid of Call Engineer message on display. Alarm now going crazy both when activated and not. Clear-Set-Full gives message Zone 3 Contact. There are no Contacts on Zone 3 only inertia sensors on windows.

    Any advice much appreciated.

Zone 3 contact can still show if a sensor is faulty on that zone.
What else is in the log ? In engineer command 10 & then view to scroll down.
There is probably some other events like tamper or panic on that zone as well.
Firstly open & check all the lids are tight & all the connections on that zone are good.
If that fails, and you have access to a multi meter, you can check the resistance on that zone as described in post 9 here.
That should identify an faulty devices for you. If they are just inertia sensors with no contacts they can be replaced with any global inertia sensor.

Thanks KoolKid. Don't have a multimeter or the technical knowhow to do the checks you recommend. Opened and closed all inertia sensors and the PIR on the zone and problem seemed to stop. When full or part setting continued to get message Zone 3 Contact Entry but bypassing everything on zone did part/full set without problems. However, alarm now going off again when deactivated with Zone 3 Panic in log (Panic is in Zone 4). Now showing message "17 Call Engineer". At this stage am inclined to try and establish which sensor is the problem by trial and error with a new one. Can you recommend a supplier in the Wexford area.

You should disconnect and close off each device on zone 3 one by one until the problem disappears. I would start with the end of line checking the resistor connections are good.
