Yes, and many can transfer over any transponders into a new fob.

These guys have saved my bacon over the years.

    Yes
However not every locksmith will be able to code the key to use with immobilieser.

However as your old key is not lost, you probably might just make a key copy, and still use transponder from old key (maybe even having both keys on the same ring will suffice).

Making a key copy without immobileser shouldn't cost more than 5 to max 10 euro.

Any locksmith I've gone to get a car key cut over the years won't unless I have written permission from a Gard. And then they have to ring the manufactures to get the authorisiation code sent to actually cut the key. Without it they claim they can't cut anything.

I've heard good things about Crothers (assuming you're in Dublin).

Call the above and ask, each case is slightly different.

Got a new key cut from a broken key while back, transponder moved over, €90.

I'd be slightly wary of having a new key cut from the existing one in this case. If it's as worn as you say, it's likely the new one will be 'worn' from the start and won't work properly. Unless they can cut it from the key number I'd possibly stick with the dealer.

I got a new key cut for my car recently without any issue at a locksmith. Mine was quite worn and the new key works perfectly.

My key however is for a Jap import so there is no security or coding in the key, so nothing special was required.

    Seems really expensive.
I've got an offer to code new key with new transponder for 90quid from locksmith, and I still though it was dear.
But 90 for just cutting key and moving transponder seems mad price.

It does, I got quoted €45 from a locksmith to cut and code a spare key for my car.

To get this key was £60, to code it was 2 hours work at £55 an hour. Then had to be cut for an extra £5 at the locksmiths

€90 sounds damn cheap in comparison to some keys out there

This key was snapped in two, hence a bit more expensive that usual.

    Where was that?
I've got mine eventually for similar price, but not in Ireland.

But you are talking about getting some rare key blank (I assume it must have been original part - not made by third party), and coding it.

I comented on someone who just cut the key and moved transponder (without any coding).
