Father drives one in Elegance spec (Auto C180K); very comfortable to drive and a lovely place to be on a long journey.

No major probs since we got got it 2 years ago; we did have the passenger side door lock changed out under warranty and that's it really.

Another thread on here talks about the timing chain on these kompressor engines may need changing so bear this in mind.....

    Regards,

17500 seems a bit strong price wise for a petrol model?

Tax on that engine (old tax system, 1,794 c.c.) is going up to €636 next year.

Same car is for sale for €16,995 on DD ...... http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3986472

Slightly higher mileage for €15,995.... http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/3670271

Too good to be true? 2009 Avantgarde for €18,450 .... http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4166665

    Good catch. Thanks for that.
You can't be careful enough with these dealers

18" Alloys look good but it means low-profile tyres which means a hard ride. If you do a lot of driving on poor quality roads or roads with lots of speed ramps, those bumps up your arse will soon get pretty tiresome, be warned! Don't judge the car based on a spin down the M50.

That was one of my next questions. I definitely don't want a hard ride as I have to negotiate speed ramps and bad roads in Dublin city centre.

However the ad says 18 inch but when you zoom in on one of the pics, they are actually 17 inch.

You're right, I did think when I saw the photos originally that there was more rubber than what you'd expect on 18" alloys.

    They're 225/45 R17 so not as rough a ride as the 18".

Do you know if the car in my opening thread has a stiff/sport suspension ?

I think it's the " avant garde " spec so suspension may be tight on these cars ?

Gotta love that "low-profile tyres which means a hard ride" There are so many other factors that contribute to the hardness of a ride in a car but who cares lets just make an uneducated sweeping statement.

It's definitely Avantgarde with the star embedded in the grille and no bonnet badge.

It doesn't mention any difference in suspension in the current model, I think Avantgarde is just another trim package. There is an AMG package which involves stiffer suspension, that's an AMG badge and trim but no AMG engine if you get my drift, similar to the M trim package in beemer land.
