I have a Sky digital HD box and have some recordings of concerts etc stored. I expect to be going back to Free-to-air and wonder if there is any way before I go away from Sky of saving these recordings. If they could be saved on the computer (somehow), can anyone suggest how I might download them? Would appreciate any helpful suggestions. Thanks.

I think if the recordings are not on a premium channel (eg. sports/movies) then you can connect the RF output to your computer (via a TV card) and then use the TV card's software to record to your hard-drive.
/note: I haven't done it in a while so I could be wrong about the premium channels.

You could also connect up a VCR (old technology) or a dvd/hd recorder and record that way.

This is the best way,do it before the subscription ends though.

Thanks for that. I suppose the way to go is through a DVD recorder. I will have to figure out how to get it onto that tho. Would I use a HDMI cable from box to recorder? How would I then choose what to record?

Connect a scart from Sky box to DVD-R and then select the appropriate input on both the TV (DVD-R) and on the DVD-R (eg. AV2).
You can then select the appropriate shows for recording (pressing the 'play' button on the SkyHD remote brings up your recordings) and then select play and then 'rec' on the DVD-R.

    ^^ As Above...

When you have the DVD Recorder set up,,,go to your planner, and select the programme to be recorded..Then use the < > arrows and you should see an option "COPY".

But remember,,the recordings will be in "Real Time" ..If the show is 2 hours,,it'll take 2 hours to record it...And you won't be able to use the sky box for anything else while your recording from it.
