buying copper wire mesh in leinster

    am wodering if there are any hardware/garden stores in carlow,waterford and dubllin that sell copper mesh wire as ive just finished setting up a large flowerbed and and want to prepare for the invasion of slugs once spring arrives and they start to bloom.

    I've seen copper tape to stick round flower pots but never enough to cover a large area.
    Crushed egg shells might be cheaper or salt or anything, copper ain't cheap. Plant some hostas somewhere, they're catnip for snails.

    Sorry, I was being somewhat sarcastic, having struggled with keeping my hostas from slug damage.
    Most garden centers stock them but as their prefered condition is shady damp... you can see whare this is going.

    Slug traps work well, better in summer than spring for some reason, but putting down copper mesh might be overkill.

    Mostly though slugs are like the weather you deal with them day to day.
