Hi there,I am looking for some advice..I am 26 and I am due to undergo shoulder surgery in January and I will be unable to work for 6 months afterwards due to recovery..At the moment I am not working anyway,I am on jobseekers allowance,I dont have any PRSI as I have worked abroad all my life since I finished school. I started receiving jobseekers allowance when I returned home 2 years ago because I could not get a job in construction. What do i need to apply for when I have this surgery done?I know I cant keep receiving JSA because you have to be able for work but disability allowance states that your injury must last over 12 months to qualify..Can somebody please give me some advice on what to do as I have no experience in this and I dont want to go to the social welfare office until I know what im doing incase they just stop my payment for some reason. I am already struggling financially like everyone else in Ireland and I cannot afford to lose my payment or have to wait a few months to receive another one.
