    Hi all,

Myself and the missus getting married in early Jan. Only getting around to booking honeymoon now.
We are considering Thailnad for 19/20 nights.

    Anyway I came accross this offer;

    http://www.trailfinders.ie/latestoffers.nsf/offers/8025797D005D5EBE80257AAF000DC421

I contacted Trailfinders and got a quote of €1780 per person.
It includes a chauffer to the airport and all sorts of daft fancy stuff.

Dunno if we can justify it though.

    Any thoughts??

My thinking is we can go economy for approx €850 each and spend the rest on a luxury hotel, but not often you get the business class that cheap.

That's what I'd be thinking as well - the flight's a very small part of your holiday in terms of time. It's a good price but €900 each for a bigger seat, a few drinks and a glorified taxi?

    I know:pac:
I just love the idea of flying in total luxury for once..!
Particularly on our honeymoon and even more particularly on the way home when we are both inevitably a little upset..!

Out of interest has anyone availed of this offer that would normally travel economy?
I'm with you though, €900 extra for big seats and a free taxi is a bit rich when you break it down... still, someone might convince me..:P

Ah feck it,its a once in a lifetime trip(you hope),I would go for it,romantic going over, great rest on the way back, how many people who fly all their life gets a trip on first class, very few I bet unless they got bumped.
Go for it as long as you dont have to live on baked beans when you get back, live the lifestyle for your honeymoon.!!

I got bumped a few times and it's very nice but I'd rather spend that much money on a classy hotel and a few slap up meals. If you're on your honeymoon a four-poster bed might be a better use of the money :D

still a bit pricey each - yeah spend the rest on splurge out there.... sometimes you get upgrade offers sent to you by email a couple of days in advance... e.g. flew to rio recently and got offered to upgrade to business class for 400 euro by email.

Does anyone pay the "1" fare that they are supposedly giving "2" for? The rates don't seem great to me.

    Thanks guys,

Whilst it is mighty tempting we have decided to spend the cash on hotels instead of the flight.

    Someday maybe....!

that can still be done in Economy if you can get upstairs onto one of the few economy seats on an A380 behind the 1st and business class
Or on other layouts theres sometimes a few seats squeezed in between the business class and galley that separate you from 10+hours of squeely babies in the rest of economy.
Its one of the few cases that checking in online/ reserving seats way ahead of time really can pay off.

    Etihad don't have A380s.

I found the economy from Dublin to Abu Dhabi to be pretty good anyway.

Much better than an Aer Lingus trans-Atlantic for example.

Better off spending your money on the trip rather than the transit.

you'd be mad not to upgrade.

    once off - do it!

go to seatguru.com to find out the best seats to select on flights.... (knows the planes used for a particular flight number).

3000 would be very expensive if you were to buy the full price fare... But thats not the offer here

Personally, I would have definitely gone for this offer. Being your honeymoon and all that.
Just before I went to Sydney, there was an offer of 2200 for business class (on the A380 !!). I jumped at the chance - it was worth every cent.

As the poster above said, have a look at seatguru and try and get emergency exit seats or similar. You might be able to buy some sort of lounge access at Abu Dhabi - if you have a few hours stopover. That might be a cheaper option to get you a bit of comfort along the way...

For the trip over, personally I don't think the business class offers that much more, but it is worth it for the trip back.

Etihad won't allow you to select exit seats online.
