    Hi folks.

Any feedback on PayPal? Been throwing my CV in for over six months now and not so much as a whisper from them? I'd consider myself appealing to them and what they need but I'm getting nothing back.

Would you recommend appearing in their reception area for a chat with their HR manager? I really want to work for them!

I wouldn't recommend rocking up to reception - you will be given the bums rush.

When you say you have what they are looking for but despite several CV's being sent in, have had no success this tells me that either one of two things is the case

1 - you do not in fact have what they are looking for (despite you thinking otherwise)
2 - you do have what they are looking for but your CV is not selling you to them.

It would be worth getting some advice on the quality of your CV - if you know anyone in recruitment or management who has responsibility for recruiting, then ask them to look over your CV.

A good CV is the best asset you have in getting a job. Having the qualifications/skills means nothing if your CV does not fit the bill. Your cover letter also has to be of good enough standard to get you noticed.

Finally, I don't want to be too negative to you, but I know several people now who have worked for Paypal - none of them enjoyed their time there. And this is from a range of departments, Irish nationals and non-Irish nationals. Having said that, it is a good place to get experience in, particularly if you have good language skills.

I also know from the experience of a close personal friend that initially, despite having language skills which are not common, and despite them apparently being 'desperate' for staff with this language, they didn't entertain him until he had referees from employment in Ireland. As soon as he got work experience in Ireland - despite the fact it was in a totally unrelated field - suddenly, with practically the same CV he got an interview. So your references are important. And if you know someone already working there ask them to recommend you - they will get a bonus if you are placed and having them recommend you means you might have more success in getting an interview.

    good luck

I would try and find out which recruiter is covering the area you're interested in the are all on LinkedIn. Connect and engage with that person directly, ask them if it would be OK to have a chat, in person or over the phone, and to get some advice or feedback about your application at a time that is convenient. I know a few of them are ex Cpl which is who I work for and I think this is an approach that would work with them.

I honestly wouldn't advise turning up at reception. There is nothing worse than someone showing up like that when you are up to your eyes and you don't want your first meeting to be a negative one.
