Just looking for info on driving ranges from different counties.stuff like where they are?how many?which is the best? They tend to see alot of action over the next few months.
In tipp there is 5 that i can think of:clonmel, tipp town, ballykisteen, cashel and carrick.
Ballykisteen would be the best as on top of the bays it has outside grass to hit off.

Quite a few in Down. Newry, Warrenpoint, Kilkeel, Newcastle, Lisburn Downpatrick, Bangor. Quite like Newcastle. Newly opened with decent power tees and mats.

Where is the range in clonmel? You can play from the grass at either side of the range in tipp town to.

    Leopardstown would be my shout.
Once you're on the N11 (barring rush hour traffic) you should fly out.

Don't fly out... obey the speed limit obviously, it's a popular spot for the Traffic Corp around the UCD flyover.

Elm Green may be another option

New range opening on the athlone side of ballinasloe next month. They have been working on it the last few months. Seems very short and narrow but will give it a go when its openend - few miles closer to me that the other one in Athlone.

That means not one driving range in North tipp since the one in thurles closed.
    That's pretty bad.

Glenlo Abbey also. Hotel changed hands last year. Diggers out on the course at the moment. New owners committed to improving the course and range. Worth keeping an eye on.

Talk of a new range near the airport coming soon also.

It's good but you have to leave your bag at reception so you can't nick the balls.

There is a driving range out past Drinagh. As you are coming out of town turn left at the Farmers Kitchen pub and its about 2mile up that road on the left hand side. Little pitch and putt course there too.

There is a nice range in Ballymoney just outside Gorey, electronic tee's too. Its across the road from Ballymoney public golf course.

Have been to a good few driving ranges around the country and never heard of this practice before, sounds crazy. So if you want to hit a few different clubs you have to leave your bag in the car or at reception and carry the clubs in single handedly? Do you also have to pay a deposit for the rubber tees in case the users steal those also?
Why would anyone steal range balls, only reason I can think of is if you owned a driving range and were too much of a thief to supply your own balls for it but that said you could only realistically steal 100 balls at a time so it would take a long time to stock.

I like this one in Dublin, handy when visiting relatives up there.

I've even seen this lad using it, so it must be good :)

In Dublin City for the week. Based around Croke park. Have car. Which range should I use in the evening? Would love to hit off grass.

Nearest and most convenient in terms of travel time I can think of would be Elm Green, just off the Navan Road/N3. No grass facilities but there is an outdoor matted area without bay barriers so at least it feels like you're outside.
Spawell in Templogue has a grass area but not sure if it's open this time of year, might only be from April to Oct.
Kinsealy driving range near Portnarnock is a more modern set up but don't remember there being any grass area there either.

YOu could try Newcastle range, out the N7, towards Rathcoole direction. They definitely have grass area. As above though, not sure whether it would be open this time of year.

Other than that I would say head to the GUI academy in Carton House. will have everything you need to cover all parts of your game. Not sure on cost of using the place though?
