    hi to answer your questions.
    1. usually not that long
    2. it will be backdated to the date you apply
    3. yes you can apply for swa but your partners income will be taken into a/c and you might get a top up.
    hope this helps

is partner working. how much is she earning, if its greater than the swa rate then you wont qualify. but you can apply for anything.

you can ALWAYS apply, but you may be denied - only in writing and only with a valid reason

You could go as an adult dependant on partners claim. There will be a limitation on the amount partner will receive once you are on jsb. You will receive €188 assuming you are entitled to the maximum benefit and partner will receive €124.80 on jsa as the maximum amount you cant receive in these circumstances is €312.80 as a couple.

it doesn't really matter. OP might want to open their own claim, which will be limited to the adult dependant rate

If op opens a jsb claim and has an entitlement to jsb they will receive €188 ..partner on jsa will receive adult dependant rate.(max pay applies to jsa).
