Anyone watching this? It's on Discovery Channel.

It basically follows the journey of two gambling addicts as they try and find gold in Ghana.

Ok, there's nothing about them being gambling addicts on the show but that is exactly what they are...going deeper and deeper into debt to try and make it all back by mining gold.

I'm not sure how real the show is, for a couple of reasons.

    1. They're both in debt for over a million quid or so each, and every step along the journey something else goes wrong for them. Meanwhile, they're both on twitter telling everyone to watch the show and how great it is.

    2. They really can't be this naive and thick. You have to see it to believe how idiotic this pair are. I really hope we're told that it was all an elaborate TV show soon because the suspension bridge of disbelief is starting to crumble...

Saw two episodes, yeah... it seems even more fake than Gold Rush Alaska.

We are millions in debt, what should we do? Get a job, work hard to pay it off over time.... or, and this is just an idea... take on even more debt in an attempt to find gold in Africa.

Yeah I've been watching. Some of it definitely seems to be dramatised for the camera. Either that, or they are the two unluckiest guys EVER.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,927 ✭✭✭Sugarlumps

Discovery has succumbed to trailer trash tv. The camera man seems to have a bad dose DTs.

I kinda liked it at the start, thought it was better than gold rush at the start. Just watched episode six and its going downhill fairly fast.

On episode 3 here, losing interest fast.

This show is beginning to annoy me. Its dragging on and on!

There's a bit of debate online about whether or not it's fake

    http://www.huliq.com/10473/jungle-gold-season-finale-leaves-fans-wondering-show-fake

There really is no way it's 100% genuine...

In all seriousness, if they owed 1.5million their gigantic houses would be in the possession of the banks as collateral.

Its been on what, 4 weeks now? Do you really think that banks would wait that long?

Well we don't know the ins and outs of their "debts" so it's impossible to comment on that.

Totally agree, its a really poor show now and it makes me more and more fed up watching it.

If the rumours of a second series are true its definitely fake! No lenders/bailiffs would be hanging around at owing 1.5million.

that robbery was fake, terrrible over acting....:mad:

Douche bags both of them, they probably give each other those hand shake hugs every time one of them takes a dump. It’s one of the worst show on tv land and I’m worse for watching it. In fairness there’s been fock all on tv.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,965 ✭✭✭tinofapples

    When I watched the last episode all I could think of was ;

But there's no way they could be that foolish so it has to be fake.

    HA HA!!!
You got it right, everything worth watching is either end of season or having a break till mid january,i was watching this sh*te for a while ,couple of moments looked a little dodgy but i stayed with it and right at the end it was like the makers gave up and said "f**k you very much and thanks for watching!!!" and filmed the most ludicrously b***sh*t fake ending i've ever seen on TV.

Cameraman in SUV disappears, shot of two gob****es leaving 4 wheel drive all terrain jungle vehicle to remove what looked like those little sticks you buy for starting fires out of the road, masked moterbike gunman removes bag of gold(he knew exactly where it was in vehicle) and escapes.
Lots of shots of the big blond simpleton overacting and punching carseats, followed by shots of robber going up and down road past them several times,BUT they didn't recognise him as the cunning swine removed the scarf from his face.

This is back on now, Anyone watching it? The two lads are typical cringy americn gimps but it's comical all the same.

Nothing seems to go right for them - The claim to be poor/skint but when it flashes back to their houses they are massive...

Kind of hope they fail again and get "robbed" once more :pac:

They claim to be poor but if they are in as much debt as they claim back in USA they'd have been cleared of all there goods/homes/cars etc.. In order to pay back the debt.

Seen the first one how havent they been killed and buried. They make it look easy just to fly out and get a claim. That dave fella sounds like a muppet

That Dave fella might be a muppet but he's a very clever one.

Appropriately, he runs a Money Church over there as well.

Really? He treats the two lads as disposable so there's an indicator of his wealth.

I just was reading about dave and came accross his facebook page he puts all his money into the church. He has put up a statment about what happens on this season. He seems like a good guy made out to be bad

I much prefer Gold Rush. Todd Hoffman is a undeliverable fcuk up. Everything the man does goes from bad to worst. Half way through season four and he hasn't learnt a thing.

Does anyone know what the name of the song that is used in the current advert airing on Discovery for this show is? It's such a killer tune, but I can't seem to identify it.

Up to now the episode have been a little surreal ( by that I mean seem to be over dramatised) ...

    then tonight ...
the ghanean government turns up the heat and issues arrest warrants as they claim the lads are mining illegally.

So follows a 2 hr show on their attempt to escape ghana, but still they do stupid ****

[*]land a chopper in the middle of the village of which the suspect an inhabitant to have ratted them out

[*]crew keeps filming ( on phones etc) when going though check points, immigration, etc

[*]they go to hide out in a hotel while waiting for their flight ... happens to be a hotel where government officials are staying ( and there seems to be no extra security )

[*] going through the airport ... wearing their mining Tshirts

    [*]...

Started to catch the odd episode of the recently. It has to be completely set up though. The two gimps let loose to mine gold in deepest Africa surely would end up dead and equipment robbed. But saying that it is good watching when everything goes wrong for them time and time again. Just when things look good, something else goes wrong. Is what's on Discovery at the moment season 1 and is there a season 2?

Ghana must be the only country in the world where you can get out of by using the main airport even though there is a warrant for your arrest.

And also get into a hotel that is holding government meetings if though your that countries most wanted.

The producers must have looked at argo before they filmed the ending.

Season 2 was pants. I watched it over the summer and the only interesting part was the security chap they brought in to end the fiasco.

Surely if they were wanted by police they wudnt just walk thru an airport without a bother.

A folks please do not think this is anywhere near reality tv.
