Why would they leave open an account that was making 10k profit until they hit 100k profit?

Because they could then turn around and say 'look this guy made 100k you can do the same'. This would actually increase turnover and profits as we all know 99% are going to get nowhere near 100k.

As things stand the likes of me has no intention of laying any big bets if I'm just going to get closed down, whereas the prospect of serious dough would keep me interested. In the long term it surely makes better business sense to allow a few winners while still raking it in from the novices.

But I suppose time will tell.

It makes no sense at all to leave profitable accounts open. Privacy laws mean they wouldn't be allowed report on any specific accounts. So they've nothing to gain from leaving profitable accounts open.

I've had the vast majority of my accounts limited or closed, Bluesquare, 188bet and sbobet (have rarely used) are the only ones left untouched. I bet through a friends account on the rest of the bookies. I was limited on Marathonbet in the space of 4 hours after a womens match which the line was much lower than any other bookies. 48 winning bets out of 48 (they've low lays anyways but allow you reback as much as you want, so effectively was backing te same bet time after time) and about 1.5k profit and my max lay was €1 and they stopped me rebacking.

Bookies will limit you if they even have the slightest indication that you will make money.

They told me it would be OK to open 3-4 more accounts in different names and I will get some free bets.

Its terrible I can actually remember the first time I was limited and realised that its actually impossible to beat the bookies they have everything in there favour , they can just close and shut you down at will and there is nothing you can do about it . I used to go the shops to place bets and eventually that became pointless as well , they would not even take a 100 euro bet on football. I'd look at others in the shops and think to myself you guys must be all losing your b*lls here every week . But its true I think the last I read nearly 90% of punters accounts in bookmakers are losing ones.

I sustained a living from betting by opening hundreds of accounts at different bookmakers and nowadays ( thank god for recession) I will pay anyone i know 1k to let me open accounts in there name .

Also depends on bet types, if you are winning at multiples or even betting on multiples for a decent % of your bets it's highly unlikely they will ever close your account.

    That's how it works.

About 10-15% of customers in any given year make a profit and their accounts are not touched.

It is perfectly possible to make money from a bookie with dumb luck. What isn't possible is to employ a system (I am including knowing more than them as a system) and win that way.

To be fair to them, there are a lot of people in the racing world (and elsewhere) who live to pull off a betting coup - if they kept laying their bets the bookies would all be out of business in weeks and the fun punters couldn't get on.

365 are very open about this, but they all do it.

It's no harm to throw a few quid on an accumulator every now and again to try and keep your account clean.

    Same as that.

    I always do this.
Still though, unfortunately for me , the fact I haven't had an account closed yet is probably just a sad predicament of my gambling profit/loss overall.

Its hard to beat these guys .
But the odd acca and spreading over different accounts will surely buy time.
I know a few have said here that taking the bookmarker with the best odds on a particular event each time will close you down pretty much before you've got started.

I severely doubt there is any poster here who has their account closed by the traders or even limited.

    Open to correction though

Oh how I wish you were right...

I'm not a huge punter myself but the biggest punter I know (mainly soccer) says he finds Pinnicle & SBO the best by far.

Bet365 is the best by far. You get limited too easily though.

Pinnacle, Sbobet and Marathon are ahead of 365 easily 9 times out of 10 for best odds.

best odds maybe, but for sheer range of games available bet365 wins hands down.

Agreed, but if your in it for the long haul, its not about choosing one book and being loyal to them, find them game you want then find the bookie with the best price.

    Moneybookers is great for this.

Your right Brian of course but unfortunately the guys or software that monitor individual accounts are quick to pick up that a customer only really use them when their best price and will get limited after a short time.

It's not the worst idea to stay loyal to a bookie for a period if they are usefull and throw in the odd accumulator etc to mix it up . Sounds counterproductive but it buys time.

Best price, cover bets, arbing etc with a single bookie are no no's .I guess alot of people do it without realizing sometimes.

I think one thing Bet 365 are usefull for is when you want to back an underdog in-play. I notice in sports like tennis snooker football that they push the underdog out a few extra units more than the others . Very usefull in eg tennis when a player looses the 1st set .

    Pinnacle are awful to use.

Sbobet have a smaller reach than 188bet, and 188 is inferior to bet365.

Marathon are good if you stake small.

    Bet365 a/c;
"Total for this period (stake) 124.67 (return)71.67"

Didn't realise that. Too many small punts on long shots add up since my returns were over two stakes, and there were 14 stakes in total.

Just had my B365 limited to the extent that I can stake about €2 per horse. It's a bittersweet feeling of pride and anguish, tbh. :)/:(

    PP a/c;

    Staked; €114

    Returned; €399

The returned amount was from two bets of €20 staked in total. Had an awful Masters losing €94 on 10 lads!

I'm limited with Ladbrokes now the hoorbags, been using Bet365 a lot more lately, its growing on me, didn't like it for some reason for a good while.

I'm allowed stake about 1-10 euro with Laddies if I'm lucky
