My wife is a new crafter and is making hnadmade xmas cards, she has mentioned the big calibur for embossing anyon eknow anything about this or recommend something else

I have the Cuttlebug which I think is brilliant and my friends have the Big Shot which they want to marry and have babies with!

P.S. Never think buying one of these machines is the end of the story. There is sooooo much stuff you have to buy in order to use it! Be warned, cardmaking is addictive!! You may never see your wife again.

So very true!! It can be a really expensive hobby.

I have a Big Shot and love it, but I cut fabric more than other materials. My mum has the Cuttlebug, Grand Calibre, and Big Kick. The only time she uses the Grand Calibre is for the wider cuts. (Her favourite machine of all is the Cricut but that's an entirely different thing).

A lot of the dies and embossing folders can be used with any of the machines which helps.

I haven't used one but I've used a big shot and find them great. They're cheaper and nice and sturdy, that site is doing a starter kit at a good price too...unless she DEFINITELY wants to use larger dies the big shot or cuttlebug should do her just fine...save the extra bucks for buying dies/embossing folders etc.!!!!

cuilteanna - I have been looking for a Cricut machine since Nov, and so far I have not been able to find a company in Ireland that sell them, and all the companies in UK I tried will not ship here! Can I ask where your mum purchased hers from.

My brother brought it over to her from America. It's a Mini Cricut, so was well under the customs limit! Have you tried amazon.co.uk? It's a third party seller so might be one you've already tried.
