New Sky epg

    Not a fan of this new Sky epg. Way more unstable than previous versions, lots of bugs.

    Changing to channels and nothing but blue screen appears. Recordings not starting. And it seems very slow generally.

    I like the look of the fonts and the style but it needs a few updates quickly I think.

    Its running smoothly for me.
    The only issue,is when you ff,then play,the sound takes an extra second to kick in.

    Like the look of it myself but hate the usability. A couple of extra presses required to get the list of programmes under categories...i.e. docs, sport etc etc. you gotta press down and then select again instead of just the list of programmes appearing like it used to. Very annoying.

    Yep, got that a few times on my Pace HD box. It has also needed a reboot about twice as it stops responding. Only got the update a week ago...

    The box also seems less responsive. And removing MiniTV no longer allows the page to fill up with extra channels listings per page like before.

    I miss the the old sky plus epg. That was miles better than the crap we have now

    Twice in the last week I have had recordings failed due to an out of disk space error even though I have over 60% free...wtf???

    Never happened before the upgrade.

    yes this epg is bad news for pace, samsung and a few amstrads, its not just a new epg, its a complete software update and it has a few tricks up its sleeve to counteract that other stuff. I dont think the pace box can handle it. i have a pace 9f3003 and went back to the old within 24 hours. sky will give out the usual guff if you ring them ,switch off at wall, do a planner rebuild etc etc then finally a call out for 100 euro.

    Maybe you could try a Planner Rebuild, that might fix the problem.

    Go to Services menu, Press 0,0,1 which should bring you to a hidden menu, an option of which is Planner Rebuild. Do NOT try System Reset which would wipe your HDD clean!

    I've had problems with my Samsung hd box since the update. sometimes when switching on there is no sound but if I put the box into standby and turn on again it is working fine then ??

    I found the box to be much slower and was getting a lot of blue screens and pink screens etc. Also the box completely crashed once and was unresponsive so I had to disconnect from the mains and reboot. Seems much better since but I am still getting the sound errors occasionally when switching on the box initially.

    I wouldn't waste my time ringing sky with this, you will only get transferred to someone in a call center in India, amazing though if you want to buy something (like the 12.99 sky wireless adapter) you get someone who can actually speak English!

    I get the same problem with the sound on My one. Very annoying.

    I don't get the pink screens,,but I did notice that it is slower to change the channels,etc...
    .

    Thanks for the info folks. I'm not the only one so.

    In fairness, it's been working much more reliably in the last couple of weeks. A few bug fixes I suspect.

    fyi: The box became quicker to change channels after I rebooted it and the sound problem is also less frequent now too

    rumours flying around that the older boxes cant handle the new epg and starting giving all sorts of problems like missed recordings fast forward issues etc.

    Recorded a few things recently and got a message "Clashed" but there was no clashes. Annoying.

    Rebooted and it seems ok now.

    In hindsight it appears to happen after a "remote record" from my pc...strange but true.
