How long would these buses take to get into city centre from Stillorgan road ( bus stop near booterstown ave) in the morning to start work at 9 am and again on the return route after 5:30
    Thanks

You'll be lucky to get on either between 8:15 and 8:30am.

Last Monday I was waiting from 8:10 to 8:45 on the Stillorgan Road for a single 145/46a to have enough capacity to let me on, 35-40 people at the bus stop and every third bus was stopping and taking 2-6 people. Gave up and went home for tea and have been walking and getting the Luas if I need to be in town for 9am since.

If i was fortunate to get on, what's the journey time?
Before 8, what's the journey time?

~20-25m between 8 and 9, probably under 20 before 8! No difference in speed between the 46a/145

If you have a straight choice between the two on the way home, always choose the 145 in the evenings, 46a may have a driver change at donnybrook, I've never had one in the evening time on the 145.

Thank you, I'm trying to weigh the bus up against the dart

Bump, if I were to get the 46a or 145 getting on at stop closest to Booterstown Ave, what time would i need to get the bus at for a 9 am start and what bus stop is closest to ifsc on the route?

Either bus to O'Connell Bridge should do you. From there it's about a 10-20 minute walk depending on where your office is; maybe a short run on the Luas will get you in a bit quicker.

DART to Connolly would be more convenient in terms of getting to the IFSC itself but I guess it also depends on how long your walk to Booterstown station is.

Thanks for the reply, I've been advised the walk to dart is 15/20 mins down booterstown ave but the bus stop is outside the door, so just weighing up options.....

If you time it properly jump off either 46a/145 and jump onto 14or 15 and will drop you right outside IFSC
If you get off Suffolk St.on way in and get either 46a/145 on D'olier St on way home.

Get the travel 90 ticket and you will be able to hop on/off as many buses as you like in 90mins so saving a lot of money and this will probably work out at around €2.40 for as many buses and also full distance including the 84x which will leave you off in Fleet St.

Have you checked 47? It's infrequent, but would take you from Stillorgan Road to Grand Canal Dock/Pearse St and you can just cross the Liffey from there.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'd like to keep the bus changes to a minimum. I checked out the no 47 which is a possibility but estimates journey time is 35 mins in comparison to walk to/ dart and walk again maybe take approx same time

There is no substitute for just trying the various options yourself OP.

However, looking at the working timetable on the NTA website for the 47, the 0735 departure from Belarmine should be at Booterstown Avenue just after 08:00 and should get to Westland Row just after 08:35 - 35 minutes as you suggest.

Walk up to the stop at Fosters ave, the buses unload schoolkids here in a big way and room is available.
