Newcastle vs Wigan (20:00) - Sky Sports 1

    Lineups -

Newcastle: Krul; Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini (c), Santon; Tiote, Anita;, Marveaux, Gutierrez; Ba. Cisse

Wigan: Al Habsi, Caldwell, Boyce, Figueroa, Jones, McCarthy, Gomez, Beausejour, Stam, Kone, Di Santo

Two sides in poor form here, Newcastle perhaps needing the win more. Newcastle have lost their last 4 and are facing injuries to key players such as Ben Arfa and Cabaye.

Wigan have lost 3 of their last 4, and haven't won in St James' Park over their last 6 visits.

Prediction = Newcastle to get that badly needed win, 2-1.

Would not surprise me if Wigan won this.

    Goal in it either way.

    I will go 1-1

Can see Wigan nicking 2-1, then again, they are impossible to predict.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Newcastle pushed up at least 10 yards further than normal. Its the correct thing to do. We ahve let pretty much every team this year have as much of the ball as they want. Route of our problems.

    Alan Parry is an embarrassment.

    So harsh.

Looked shoulder to shoulder to me.

Shoulder in the back, bit oof a pointless challange..

Anyway, deserve a break... GET IN

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

    That is pathetic.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,221 ✭✭✭A_Sober_Paddy

Thankfully its not just me who thought that was a very harsh decision

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Agreed its a harsh sending off. Disagree with anyone who says its not a foul though...

If you use your shoulder you need to make sure you contact the other payers shoulder. The wigan player contacted Cisses back.

Unfortunately he was last man, for that he had to go

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,222 ✭✭✭✭Will I Amnt

If he made that challenge further left or right to see the ball out over the line he would have got a goal kick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

WTF were our back 2 at????? Jasus

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,102 ✭✭✭✭niallo27

Wohoo stuck a fiver on Ba to score first.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

    Get Tiote off now

Almost a positive Tiote will be going to ACON.

    Guy is a total liability.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

I'd like to say its game over but out defense has been shocking recently... Wigan were almost in twice.

Dont think caldwells challenge was worse than Cisses

Not as much of a Liability as Perch, Jonas, Anita etc... Head and shoulders our best available midfielder.

Dont think he can play any other than 100%% though :)

Wigan have no one going in the box when they get forward.

Knocking long balls up to Kone ain't gonna get you anywhere.

    Should be off

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Now he should be off.... Another needless tackle

I wouldnt count anything out with the way the NUFC back 4 are playing

I'll be amazed if Caldwell doesn't get sent off at some stage.

commentator just said there are not many Wigan fans at the game because their buses were caught up in an accident...were the newcastle fans with them?...because so many empty seats at the ground.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Need to keep it tight, a goal would for Wigan would make us very nervous! Couple of collapses this season already

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Did some famous Geordie die ? SJP is like a morgue tonight.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,056 ✭✭✭applehunter

    Game ruined by sending off.

Don't think it was a foul tbh.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭bazual

Strange atmosphere alright. nice to see us pass the ball about but you can still see williamson is a liability in the back 4 and we need a quality cb in january. Anita having an ok game too but Wigan making this easy for the toon the way they are playing with 10 men.
What is Neville on about eh? It may have been slightly harsh baut cisse was in front of fig so penalty and unfortunate red card.

Empty and quiet. They were flogging 15 pound tickets earlier in the week.

The atmosphere at SJP is not what it once was at all.

Been fairly dead the last few times I've been there.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Tiote off for NUFC. Not really sure we can afford to be complacent...

    Calwell dito

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,774 ✭✭✭cadete

I thought anita had a great first half there and has been good in the last couple of games, im sure we all remember how long it took sasnton to settle in and i think we have a very good player on our hands, marveaux has been good aswell ba and cisse have been combining well and looking forward to seeing bigi in the second half really good young player

We've stopped playing since the second went in.

Fair play to Wigan for making a game of it though.

FFS Santon off injured now! It never ends.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Santon, injured too? Surely not! Groin by the looks of it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Newcastle reverted to the deep lying tactics.... Giving wigan too much space, which they are using

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭bazual

Nice from Marveaux, he just needs a bit of confidence and could turn into a useful player for us.

Santon would be better pushed higher alright. His defending isnt the best, a bit like Olivier Bernard. Lets hope injury isnt serious but with our luck.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

FFS newcastle, indicitive of Pardew teams. Foot off the gas at 2:0.

    Great run!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Putrid second half from NUFC. No pressing at all. We look like the side with 10 men. Only creating on the break. Dangerous game....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭bazual

Jonas, Cisse and Williamson have been pi$$ poor tonight. Ba and Marveaux have been our best players.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Anita has had 2 decent games, perhaps he has finally settled?

    Tasty from fergie!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,774 ✭✭✭cadete

if we dont pick up the pace soon we will concede for sure, wigan have been the better side in this second half
