    Hiya,

I'm looking at purchasing a 42'' for my parents this Xmas.

I was looking around & this one caught my eye in Argos.

    http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5299658.htm

They don't need all my the input/outputs etc.. They only have a sky box hooked up to their 28'' TV at present.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Its Saorview approved. Try googling for reviews. As you implied its not great connections-wise, but if all they need is a monitor for Sky box they should be OK. Sound is only 2 x 5w. The speakers in super-flat TVs are never up to much, might be worth testing the sound in a bricks and mortar store if you can find one that stocks it.

They mispriced it at 409 by mistake and now its back up to 499

LG are generally good. Have a look in Power City or Harvey Norman, they both stock quite a bit of LG. PC have 3 42in models at under 500.
