Car Dog in Derrybeg

On the way out of Derrybeg, just before the 80 KPH zone that precedes Teach Jacks, there is a bend in the road. Here, most days, a car-chasing dog sits, right in the middle of the road, waiting for cars to pass by! Thing is, the dog just sits there, staring you down, and he only moves at the very last minute - and usually after the car has practically come to a halt. He then slinks off, or sometimes chases the car. Does anyone know the deal with this dog? How is he still alive?

LOL - he is kinda like that! He has a cat-like possessiveness of that patch in front of his house - which just happens to include the road!
