I thought id make this thread instead of just adding to the catleap monitor thread for fear of users missing out and not getting to see this monitor while in the middle of countless pages of the catleap thread.

This 27" IPS is getting great reviews, seems to be every bit as good as the catleaps but you can buy in UK and seems to have more connections options.

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-003-DG

    Very deep review here

    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dgm_ips-2701wph.htm

I dont have one myself but i was going to buy a catleap but when a friend got his it had quite a few dead pixels and it took 8 weeks in total by the time he got a replacement i decided to go for a Dell Ultrasharp U2412M 24 inch IPS Widescreen LED Monitor only a few weeks ago which im loving but im kinda sorry i didnt know about this DGM a few weeks back, so here you go folks there is a similarly priced and just as good alternative to the catleap if you want to buy from the UK.

Anyone want to but a few weeks old Dell Ultrasharp U2412M 24 inch IPS Widescreen LED Monitor lol :(

i am worried with my gtx 680 to be honest... :pac:

i dunno, it looks so damn tempting. it would fit perfectly for my setup. i am collecting money for a new phone, but something tells me that evil PC gaming bug will leave me with ****y 3GS for another year! :pac:

how much would delivery be? and how bad are they with deliveries? long wait?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 14,723 Mod ✭✭✭✭Dcully

I never had any delays with overclockers before,i think they use DPD if my memory serves me well.
I usually expect to pay anything between 10-20 € for deliveries just to be sure.
Surely a 680 would be fine?

One niggling worry i have is the review i linked above shows the following input lag.
Considering my current U2412M is listed to only have 9.4 ms but the DGM is listed at 28 ms .
Having said that nobody on the overclockers forums seem to have issues.
I dont see any mention of how the catleaps input lag compares though.
I also need to sell my nearly new U2412M first.

look at 2312hm input lag ;).

i think its the same panel and the ones in catleaps, no one ever complained about input lag. A lot of the stuff always look GOOD or very BAD on paper, but when you have it in real life, it is a lot less of a Issue.

so all in all this monitor delivered might be around 380eu. sounds good.

To be fair i do tend to find this to be true.

Another thing for anyone planning a purchase, it seems you would be better off buying a mini DP cable as some users report not seeing bios on loading with a dual link DVI.
    €5 on overclockers.

btw i was wondering, would it work properly on DP 1440p cable? And another thing isthat i am using 3 monitors. will i need active display adapter to be able to have all 3 monitors up? i dont really need an surround.

Not sure about 3 montiors but theres a long thread about the monitor here.

I think this cable will work fine, but dont quote me :)

i think its the same panel and the ones in catleaps, no one ever complained about input lag.

But input lag is not about the panel, that would be output or refresh lag/ ghosting that would be effected by the panel.

The catleaps had really low input lag as they did not use a scaler, the DGM does use a scaler. Still I don't think it bad enough to bother anyone that does not compete in games at a very high level.

What would concern me more is the contrast ratio which seems to be about 550/1 . This is worse than the Korean monitors and would possibly lose detail in dark areas in game.

BTW it's great to see it does not use pwm, pwm gives me a headache.

how much imput lag you get in korean one?

still though, for that price is a damn nice thing.

There are many different models but the ones with no scalers are between 8ms - 12ms. The DMG is 28ms.
I still don't think this is a big deal it's just the contrast ratio that might bother me but I would have to see one working before I could know for sure.

well i think so far its a "must buy" for me.

so i iwll need to pick up these too:
    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-057-HS&groupid=1929&catid=1757&subcat=

    and

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-044-OK&groupid=1929&catid=1757&subcat=

so i can use 2x2312hm's and that new one. So far i am collecting money for a phone ( around 600eu to spend ), but i might skip on phone this year and get myself this monitor.

Nice, just ordered one there, but I seemed to of been charged over 400 euro, the total came to 315 pound.. which converts to 388 euro. why did it charge more?
edit: sorry it actually came to 398 euro. says it will be delivered by wednesday

Nice to see more selection coming to the market, but I'll wait for matte screens before getting one.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

    That looks incredibru.

Would an xfx 7950 run that?

Or would I have to settle for 1200p?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 763 ✭✭✭monster1

Oh will i not be able to run it at full resolution with the hd7950

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,600 ✭✭✭Eboggles

HD7950 is perfect for 1440p, especially when overclocked :).

So to run 1440p would you need either DP or dual link DVI?

    Does HDMI only go 1080p?

Because I have a HDMI and normal DVIs out the wazoo.

Yeah the one thing that puts me off getting one of these or the catleap is the glossy screen, oh well back to the waiting game!

How will my 660ti be with it if i was to make a purchase?

This site suggest its only 1% behind the 7950 @2560X1600.
    http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_660_Ti_Power_Edition/28.html

If this card is fine and the input lag is ok ill most definitely buy one.

Have a look at all the graphs in that review, and decide for yourself. Some people consider 30fps playable with AA, others want 80 (or so) fps with no AA.

By the way, the HD7950 you're comparing it to is running on pre-12.11 drivers and is the discontinued 800mhz model, so I'd expect the gap to be a lot wider in reality.

i am really tempted :(. i need to buy tax for 2xcars this month, so thats 350eu out of a pocket right there. i see how i will do and i might just pull the trigger on this instead of new phone.

how long does it take for them to deliver btw?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

Overclockers are quite fast. Usually inside a week or about there. Not scan fast, but fast nonetheless. They might get demand and delays with these things though.

This is cheaper. Not much information about it though so it might not be that good.

I'm seeing it turning up in a few UK shops. Cool.

    Fingers crossed it's matte! :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,983 ✭✭✭✭tuxy

A few shops have it and not a single picture. Also I'm suprised LG would put their name to these cheap monitors even if all the other ones are using a LG panel.

That LG price is hard to believe, LG have a 27" 1080p IPS for about €270.

It seems unlikely that they would do a 2560 monitor under their own name for even cheaper.

It's not that unthinkable. They sell 23'' ones for about €150 and you can get various 22'' for as low as €115.

True I still wouldn't be surprised if it was a mistake or a misprice.

A Catleap, with no customs issues, no worries of dead pixels, VESA mountable, but it still has a glossy panel! Bah!

    Pass. :(

The TFT Central review, linked in the first post.

On second thought: I'm not going near this. 450:1 contrast ratio? Bit short of the 1000:1 advertised.

The lack of even a picture is putting me off. It says it has hdmi but nothing about dvi, wouldn't it need dual dvi or dp for that res?

google it btw. other websites poping up with this monitor too. there is a buzz around internet forums too now.

if that will be less then 300eu delivered for something that matches korean catleap i am buying the next second.

    @Shodow, I direct you here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dgm_ips-2701wph.htm

Have a look at "Contrast Stability". There's your reason it's €250.

Edit: Forget that, completely blanked on the fact that it's a different monitor. -.-

fairly sure HDMI is limited to 1920*1200. god thats so tempting. €250. ugh. will it go up in price as soon as stock becomes available I wonder>?

I think later sub versions of HDMI 1.3 can go higher, it is definately no Problem for 1.4
