Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 not listed in Samsung app store

Santa has already ordered a Galaxy Note 10.1 for the zag household, and I'm trying to educate myself on the intricacies of this app store vs that app store at the moment.

I had a look at the Samsung store - http://www.samsungapps.com - but for some very odd reason they don't have the Note 10.1 listed under the device selector. There are all sorts of Tabs & Tab 2s, but no Notes. I see that it has automatically picked Ireland as my country and won't let me change it to somewhere. I know that you can buy the Note 10.1 in Ireland - http://www.argos.ie/static/Product/partNumber/5089143/Trail/searchtext%3ESAMSUNG+GALAXY+NOTE+10.1.htm

Is there some weird Apple vs Samsung patent rubbish going on that means that Samsung can't support the Note in some countries ? Or am I just doing it wrong ?

I gather I can also get apps from play.google.com and assorted other stores, but I thought that for once I would try things by the book.

Any hints as to what the issue is ?

    z

Play Store is the main place to get apps for Android. If you don't get access to the Samsung one I don't think you will be missing out on much to be honest.

I have a Samsung phone and never knew they had their own store until now - pretty much got all my apps from Play Store and one or two from elsewhere.

One bit of advice I would give you is that if the tablet is for all the household you might not want to use your main Gmail account on the device as the primary one or others will have access to your mail. Any apps you download or purchase will be tied to that gmail/google account so consider a new family gmail account just for the purpose. e.g. If you buy an app in your account then sign out of gmail then no one else will be able the purchased app.
