    Munster:
    F Jones; D Howlett capt, K Earls, J Downey, S Zebo; R O’Gara, D Williams;
    D Kilcoyne, M Sherry, BJ Botha; D O’Callaghan, D Ryan; CJ Stander, T O’Donnell, J Coughlan.

    Replacements: D Varley, W du Preez, S Archer, B Holland, P Butler, P Stringer, I Keatley, C Laulala.

GLASGOW WARRIORS TEAM TO PLAY MUNSTER IN THE RABODIRECT PRO12, THOMOND PARK, SATURDAY 1 DECEMBER, KICK OFF 7.45pm.

    15. Peter Murchie
    14. Sean Lamont
    13. Stuart Hogg
    12. Peter Horne
    11. DTH Van Der Merwe

    10. Duncan Weir
    9. Henry Pyrgos

    1. Ryan Grant
    2. Dougie Hall
    3. Mike Cusack
    4. Tim Swinson
    5. Al Kellock (Capt.)
    6. Rob Harley
    7. John Barclay
    8. Ryan Wilson

    16. Pat MacArthur
    17. Moray Low
    18. Gordon Reid
    19. Josh Strauss
    20. James Eddie
    21. Niko Matawalu
    22. Scott Wight
    23. Byron McGuigan

Some talking points of the Munster selection:
    • Kilcoyne ahead of du Preez - It's good to see Kilcoyne get a chance to nail down a starting spot. The scrum with du Preez at loosehead struggled last week.
    • Backrow - Coughlan's return is timely, we have missed his leadership in the pack. Stander starts on the blindside while O'Donnell gets rewarded for a fine performance against Cardiff. If fit O'Mahony will come into the side next week, so all three players will be playing for a starting spot.
    • O'Gara starting - ROG is back for his first Munster appearance since his injury against Racing, a game he was playing well in before going off. With Jones at fullback it looks like Keatley will have to settle for a bench spot.
    • Downey & Earls - Keet comes back in to start having missed the first two HEC fixtures. Laulala didn't have his best game last week although he was in good company there.
Bookies have this as a comfortable Munster win, I wouldn't be so sure about that. As usual Glasgow have been accumulating wins in the league with little fanfare. They have some quality players in Kellock, Barclay, Weir, Hogg (scored a hat-trick against us last season) along with two dangerous wingers in Van Der Merve and Lamont.

Munster's halfback pairing doesn't inspire much confidence and there's a lot of players coming back from international duty so not everything will click in this. I'm hoping for no injuries and a decent win with no injuries. I'd say Munster by less than 7.

It's cold out but at least it's not raining atm.

Half-backs aside, I'm happy with that team. And it'll be interesting to see how ROG does, he's really not got that much gametime recently which can't help his form. I hope Keatley will be picked for the HC game, I don't think he's done anything wrong all season... couple of games where he was average but I don't think it was his fault. I think he's done as well as any of us could have expected.

We definitely need a win heading into 2 games against Sarries. I'm hoping we can lay down a marker. 10-point win.

    Hi lads,

Does anyone know the ref link frequency for Thomond, off the top of their heads?
    Cheers.

Poor start, 3-0 down. Weir is a good kicker, good for Glasgow to have him back.

Lovely break from O'Donnell and it looks like a Stander try.

Clever play from stander. Munster legend already!!

    First try for CJ Saviour.

Nice play by Williams and TOD in the build up.

Try on his first start, excellent stuff!

Superb pace from TOD though, looked really explosive in the first 10m

Great run off the lineout. lovely little no look pass from Williams.

Stander knows how to score, he was scoring loads down in SA as well apparently.

Im off to get the Stander Pyjamas printed.

Is that Ian Dowling up with the Munster coaching staff?

Although we've had too many knock ons, I'm quite happy with Munsters attacking play so far. Williams has been fast as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭Tomtom364

    TOD has some great pace.

Someone needs to tell the BBC Alba commentator that he is TOD though and not Coughlan... poor poor commentating, been calling him Coughlan from the start of the match.

Another nice break from O'Donnell, someone had his weetabix this morning.

Downey's knocked on a couple of times, as has Sherry.

Excellent ambition at least, we're looking to run it and we are looking threatening.

No try for Van Der Merwe. Right decision, marginally. Literally an inch in that.

BBC Alba have Taylor... summat on with them, canadian player with glasgow. speaking to him 50% of the time so theres loads of english in tonights commentary... if only they could get the names right...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

They're getting way too much ground in contact. We need to put them down quicker.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

Absolutely fantastic break there, and then RoG makes a balls of it...

Munster rugby to officially announce rebranding to Munster Globe Trotters tomorrow afternoon.

Try TOD - he is having a great game!

    ...

Still getting called coughlan on BBC Alba. fail.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

That break up the field before that try was fantastic, some great hands shown. If Tommy keeps playing like this the backrow for next week will be Him, Stander and POM.

Wow! O'Donnell has some serious wheels when he gets going! Great finish & general play so far from him

Why did he kick that? We were making serious ground. Worked out okay in the end though.

TOD is having an amazing game, his pace is exceptional today.

    14-3

    Bugger, ToD is injured.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,800 ✭✭✭Tomtom364

clear take out of sherry after his kick through. apprently the wrong call to bring the lineout back so at least theres some justice for it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

Both teams are looking really lively and always trying to run it. Could be a really good game if it weren't for the knock ons and loose passes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,264 ✭✭✭✭Fireball07

We're making mistakes, there have been lots of knock-ons but on the whole, I'm really encouraged. Loads of ambition and in general we're doing well. Williams' passing isn't the best but his support running is good, I'll say that.

One of the Glasgow players looks badly injured.

    Edit: He's grand.

ROG is lucky that Glasgow player was stupid enough to take him out, a poor decision by ROG to chip there.

    The wheels from Stander!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

STANDER. Ran the length of the ****ing pitch. Our backrow may be light, but they have a serious set of wheels.

This is the type of game to make mistakes in, but my fear is that they will be punished far more next week.

Rog hasnt done much inspiring work this evening. Solid, but thats all.

Williams has been good but not great.

Put in keatly and Murray and i think we'd have had a BP by now.

(i type as stander goes in for his 2nd of the night. i love this guy)

Did you hear Jerry Flannery's comment regarding RO'G winning that peno?
It's great to see O'Gara is still bubbling away, showed that he has still has the class and the pace to take him past Mike Cusack

    :D
