    hi all

i am on a random diet & excercise program i found on the web
with a HIIT type workout, its a 31 day burn program
a fit-wise friend said it looks good

anyway, on this diet i'm doing about 1100 cals
its healthy and full of fruit & veg, lean proteins and little complex carbs
i like a few drinks now and then so a couple of days a week
so i will do maybe 1300-1400cals twice a week
this guy does not count cals, he tells you what to eat and what not to,
i calculated a typical day for me and got 1100

    Im 39yrs old, 5'7" and 192lbs (13s 10lbs)
I was 15st 3lbs a couple of months ago but started jogging
and lost a stone, i decided to "up my game" as i did nothing about my terrible diet and fondness for craft beers while i was running,
and now on this diet i have lost 8lbs in 8 days

according to a lot of websites this is way too low a calorie consumption
BMR calcs have me at 1,850, TDEE calcs has me at 2600 odd
so I assume i should reduce about 500 from this, giving me about 2100,
i've read that i will actually put on weight if i stay this low-cal,
Id be of the opinion that "if it aint broke..." i feel great, im a bit hungry sometimes but nothing major

whats the deal? should I up my cals or stay as i am,
Am i losing too fast, (i realise it will level out)
its impossible to try and get an opinion by reading on the web
as there seems to be so much disagreement on almost
every aspect of diet and exercise

    any advice welcome

    cheers

A good portion of that 8lb loss will be water weight as you are not eating many carbs your water retention is vastly reduced.

1100 kcals sounds like a very low amount are you sure you are calculating it correctly? Portion sizes etc?

I would say keep it going once you are feeling good, if you find you are very low on energy or having any adverse affects then increase what you are eating. If you are constantly hungry, increase what you are eating. Basically listen to your body!

    8lbs in 8 days. That's 3500cals a day deficit. No.

The majority of that is water weight.

Is this 1100 cals sustainable for you? I have heard and seen many people do these type of extremely low cal diets before for the 4 weeks or whatever and then after the 4 weeks they simply can't resist in gorging again and end up gaining weight rapidly again.

If I were you and I was wanting to lose weight I'd go for a much more sustainable option as you said with the 2100 calories.
