S4C Clirun gets the chop this weekend. On 02 December Presely and other Welsh transmitters available in Ireland start transmitting 4HD. As usual you need Freeview HD kit and you must retune. This applies to Arfon, Llanddona, Blaen-Plwyf and Presely.

Most Freeview HD kit should pick up this change automatically without the need to retune.

The Welsh HD mux is currently broadcasting a placeholder on LCN 104.
If you have this already, you shouldn't need to retune.

Yes, but only if you have not disabled autoretune on Freeview HD kit, which is recommended in lift conditions eg fog, cold weather, classic inversions.

Hopefully the re-tune will improve the rather poor reception I've been experiencing in the last month from North Wales.
At the moment, I can receive the BBC programs ok in SD but ITV has become very pixelated and no chance of HD. During the summer (Olympics) I had full HD for ITV, S4C & BBC working along with the full ITV quota.
I wonder if the switch-overs here from North & South has contributed to the recent degradation of the freeeview reception - apparently there is also a very powerful transmitter - Cairn Hill transmitter - which uses similar frequencies to the welsh ones.
Perhaps a more powerful aerial & amp..

The Arfon transmitter isn't included in the retune & the changes at other sites (some power increases at small relay sites using the same channels) shouldn't impact on Irish reception from there.
