    hi ,

i had some problems with my heater plugs light staying on for a long time but solved it by replacing the water temp sensor , then it ran grand for a while then the heater plug light wouldn't come on at all , i solved it ( with the help from boards.ie.........thanks guys) by relacing the 109 relay .

now what happens is when the light goes off and i turn the engine over the heater plug light comes on again , the van starts and drives ok but this never happened before . is this a common fault on the seat inca's

    thanks again

    brian

just take them out make up a 12v supply use the nut part of the plug for +wire and use body of the plug -wire if they are working they should glow red hot

there is a way easy and more accurate way. get a test light {probe} and connect it to the positive on the battery then touch each of the glow plug heads with the test list.if they are working the test light should light ,if they are gone the test light wont light simple as

Relay 109 is the power-up relay on all Volkswagen/Seat/Audi/Skoda cars and vans. It supplies power to the vehicles ecu (electronic control unit)

If you are driving something pre 2002, its lightly you car/van has a defective 109 relay- these are black in colour...Volkswagen are aware of the problem and quietly issued an revised 109 relay to their dealerships...This new relay is grey in colour, and may need to be fitted upsidedown...

The good news is it costs around €15..and solves the issue totally:D
