If you know a hunter that lamps foxes you'll see an owl
Don't know why but anytime I've been lampin 9 times out of 10 id see an owl

What species of owls do you see when lamping? Are the owls attracted to the lights or do they just happen to fly by?

I honestly couldn't tell ya why they fly over the light
Maybe seeing things clearer even though their eyesight is spot on anyway
Think the long eared owl is the one that see more often once or twice seen a barn owl

They're rare enough and very hard to find. At this time of year, a walk around the Bull island will probably put up a diurnal short eared owl or two but finding nocturnal ones is like the proverbial needle.

Handsqueeling seems to attract them more than anything else. Last few times I've been out lamping I've called in at least one...
