It doesn't seem to say what the trailer limit is for a car?

I'm not certainly sure what changes OP had on his mind but I've seen this one (about trailers)

So far regulations were like that:
    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/2006/en/si/0537.html
    B

Vehicles (other than motorcycles, mopeds, work vehicles or land tractors) having a design gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3,500 kg., and having passenger accommodation for not more than 8 persons and where the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer is not greater than 750kg
    7. (1) A combination of vehicles which consists of a drawing vehicle and a trailer shall, for the purpose of these Regulations, be regarded as a vehicle -

    (a) in category B, where the drawing vehicle is in category B and the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer does not exceed the unladen weight of the drawing vehicle and the total design gross vehicle weight of the combination does not exceed 3,500 kg

So In general you could tow a trailer of 750kg with any vehicle in category B (even the 3500kg vehicles so total gross weight was 4250kg) or additionally you could tow a heavier trailer, provided it's gross weight does not exceed unladen car weight and combination of gross weights of the set doesn't exceed 3500kg.

From 19th January it's going to work like that:
    http://www.irishstatutebook.ie/2011/en/si/0483.html
    B

Vehicles (other than motorcycles, mopeds, work vehicles or land tractors) having a design gross vehicle weight not exceeding 3,500 kg, having passenger accommodation for not more than 8 persons and where the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer is not greater than 750 kg.

A licence with code 106 permits the combination of drawing vehicle and trailer where the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer may exceed 750 kg and where the design gross vehicle weight of the drawing vehicle and trailer combined does not exceed 4,250 kg.
“7.(1) A combination of vehicles which consists of a drawing vehicle and a trailer shall, for the purpose of these Regulations, be regarded as a vehicle—

    (a) in category B, where the drawing vehicle is in category B and—

    (i) the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer does not exceed 750 kg, or

(ii) the design gross vehicle weight of the trailer exceeds 750 kg but where the design gross vehicle weight of the combination does not exceed 4,250 kg,

First of all, here we've got a change.
It looks like from now on regulations in relation to heavier trailers than 750kg change. There is no more a requirement for gross trailer weight to be higher than unladen vehicle weight, and combination gross weight now can be as much as 4250kg, not 3500kg like before.

But on the other hand IMHO those reguations are not clear, and point 7.(1) (a) (ii) indicates that combination of car and trailer heavier than 750kg should be treated as vehicle in category B, so therefore B licence is enough to tow it.
But on the other hand on licence categories descriptions we've got thing mentioned about code 106 which would permit to tow heavier trailers than 750kg on B licence.

So in short according to a 7. we can tow a heavier trailer on B licence, but according to previous article we can't without code 106.

Anyone maybe could clarify on this?
I didn't find any info about it on RSA website.

If indeed there will be code 106 needed for towing heavier trailers, who will get it?
