Boarding Kennels for two small dogs- Dublin

I am looking for boarding kennels for two Chihuahuas for holidays. I need somewhere that will allow their own bedding and toys. They must also be safe from larger dogs as they are a nervous breed. I am a little unsure about the DSPCA or large clinical type kennels, but maybe I am wrong to feel this way?
    Has anyone any suggestions. Thank you :) South Dublin or general area;

If they are nervous I would suggest you go with a kennel with solid walls between the runs. Actually even if they are not nervous I would insist on that.

Most places will allow you bring their own beds, food and toys.

All kennels will keep them safe from bigger dogs, in that there would be no interaction. But there would be no way you could be assured that they won't see a bigger dog maybe passing their run at the start of a walk etc. Unless you go for a home boarding option so you will know exactly what dogs will be there.

Finally, you say they're nervous, you would be amazed how many dogs go into kennels with their owners saying they're scared/nervous etc and within minutes of their owner leaving they're running around like they own the place :D

Maybe something like a home boarding service is what you're looking for rather than kennels. Check with your local vets and see can they recommend any reputable people in your area. In mine there is a noticeboard for advertising all local options of boarding.

Oh Thanks:) Yes maybe it's home boarding I'm looking for. I'll check with my vets or can anyone recommend someone maybe. They are sociable and love people and other dogs but can get nervous if not handled properly sometimes, its a trait of the breed. I suppose i want to be sure that they are looked after properly they only weight 4lb each. Thanks :)

I have to say I board my dog. She's a cross between a lab and setter or spaniel. I put her in the kennels once but much prefer leaving her in home boarding. She gets well taken care of and she is socialising constantly with the the persons own dogs. And she comes home knackered which is always a good sign! I'd happily recommend them but don't know whether I'm allowed to.

It's okay to recommend places which you have personal experience of, peteb2 :)

Its Beabeg Dog Boarding. Might be a bit too far away for some people - Drogheda. But I'm North Dublin so its dead handy for me. They are beabegboarding@gmail.com. Or
https://www.facebook.com/#!/BeabegBoarding?fref=ts to see some pics. You can spot my Roxie up there enjoying herself.

No connection. Just a very happy customer.

Thank you for that. It looks nice, but its too far away as I am in south Dublin, Rathfarnham, or Tallaght dircection. Id like something closer they can get used to incase there is ever a short notice stay. But thank you for helping. :)

No problem. I did a lot of searching at the time when i was first looking for kennels and would have gone whatever distance once it was good. But completely see your point. There was a kennels in Crumlin that seemed to get some good reviews but cant for the life of me recall the name,

I've heard nothing but good about Yuppie Puppie in Bray, run by a lady called Barbara: I can't find a website for it but there are plenty of Yellow Pages links via google :)

I have 2 Chihuahuas, I use Barkingham Palace as she has Chi's herself. Mine sleep on the bed with her. They are always happy too go back which is the main thing as they are not the friendliest pair!

I have been volounteering in the DSPCA and I've seen the dog boarding.
I must say it's very nice.
It's not to spam, I am not volonteer for them anymore as I moved to a new house.

I've been one evening in the dog boarding and I was surprised that my task was also to stay with some dogs that where "sad" and not eating if not with company.
I've been with some small dogs and was very nice!

(I hope I didn't write anything against the rules sharing this experience?)

I've used kilshane kennels on the finglas back roads and our dog loved it. He was able to bring his own blanket and toys. He was walked and fed well. The lady commented on a few of his personality traits you could only know if you spent a good bit of time with him she seemed very fond of him and he really seemed to like her more importantly id definitely use them again

Parents didn't have a good experience with Yuppie Puppie second time around.
