Going to Munich next week with friends for Bayern's last champions league group match.
Naturally we'll be hitting the beerhalls Augustiner, Lowenbrau etc
Anybody have any recommendations for any other decent Pubs, Restaurants,?
How about recos for any special brews worth trying?
    Thanks in advance.

Two places that often get overlooked and are well worth a visit are the Ayinger Wirtshaus which is just across from the Hofbräuhaus, and Schneider's Weisses Bräuhaus which is also very central.

Der pschorr beerhall at victalienmarkt only serves helles (edel hell actually ) from the wooden barrel and they have a nice glass walled cellar downstairs that you can take a gawk at. The hacker weissbiers are also nice especially the sterne weisse.
Food is not cheap by Munich standards but is savage. (good enough I had my wedding reception there in their function room upstairs)

Just for a pint the augustiner am Dom is a personal favorite and is only a minute walk from marienplatz.

a short enough walk from the main station is the braustuberl at the augustiner brewery. It's only 2.50 a pint and food is also reasonably priced and tasty.

Round the corner is the pschorr keller which is.a massive hulk of a beer hall and they brew their own beer. I tried some of their old style dark beer the last time and it was spot on.
If ye are that far you could continue on to the beer hall on the alte messe platz (old trade fair grounds) skirting the octoberfest grounds.

And actually, now that I think of it there's a gigantic Christmas market on the octoberfest grounds called Tollwood, with large tents holding many of the craft stands that also serve food and beer.
outside there's also food beer and food stands and the legendary special mulled wine that comes to you on fire called the feuerzangenbowle. It's also popular with the frauleins so munichs finest are to be found around that stand!

You could take a trip out to the Andechs Brewery on the train either.
