How long before points arrive?

so I reckon I was done at the wilton roundabout on 29 September by a guard standing with the hairdryer yoke (no one followed me, but I was certainly over the speed limit) - and I'll take my lumps.............but I made a promise that if I was lucky enough not to end up with points and a fine, I'd donate €50 to the Penny Dinners..............

so here's my question - no sign of points yet - I'd surely have them within 8 weeks of the offending act???

You are most likely in the clear.

Normally you would have an infringement notice within 2 weeks with 56 days to pay. Your points arrive normally a month after you pay.

They have I think up to 6 months to process the offense, but if you heard nothing by now then chances are you wont.

Am I right in saying that with the hairdryer camera they must pull you over as it cannot record the details?

    ahhh.........reckon I got done today - dagnamit!

so here's my question - the boyos were standing behind their Traffic Corps van with the tripod (I was doing about 128kph in a 120kph zone) - do they have to come after me, or will I be getting a Valentine's Day letter from An Garda Siochana??? :-(

    Yes

Tripod and hairdryers operatives must pull you over or get a colleague to do so. You weren't caught if they didn't :)

U were probably clocked around 122 or so. The speed dial on cars are not a hundred per cent. Around 5% off

Yes and no, they have 6 months to request the issue of a summons, to issue the summons the points notice would have to be issued giving enough time for the person to pay or refuse.

I think some tripod systems have a camera, so if it was one of those they don't need to stop you.

I dont think they would bother with you for 8 over and its quite possible that your speedo could be reading it high by a few KMH at least.

Also, they would still most likely have to pull you over if they were going to book you so youre almost certainly in the clear :).
