After reading that, my respect for David Pocock has increased immensely.

Yeah great player and seems like a good bloke to boot. Campeses comments were just downright stupid though. It's bad enough thinking like that in this day and age, to put it out there on twitter is madness. Is he just looking for attention?

I would actually hope that is the case. It's better than it being a held opinion from the man.

If you have time, find the programme Q & A that he appeared on (it's on youtube) to discuss the decision he and his girlfriend made about delaying their marriage.

    He's an educated gentleman.

Didn't Matt Williams describe Sinead Kissane as the work experience girl, when she asked Eddie about resigning in 2007?

For as bad a comment as that was I'd like to think that Matty would have used the term regardless of gender, i.e. work experience bloke in the event it was a guy. It was a really cringe-worthy interview, so I'd take his comment as a dig at that rather than at the individuals gender.

Yes but it was crass question by her. I have a bit of sympathy for Campese on this matter. I think it would be better to have knowledgeable journalists rather than someone who 'learns' a bit to make do....but then we have Gerry the Tennis Guy. It doesn't matter a jot what the gender is If they know their stuff. Quite frankly, a lot of females involved these days with the presentation of rugby simply do not, nor do they have any feel or empathy for the game. Then of course we have guys like Frankie and Quinny who do know the very top end of the game talking absolute minge live on t.v. - so Talkin' Rugby is the only escape......:)

You're being fairly sympathetic to him there.

There is another side to the coin, which is TV stations deliberately hiring women to present sports because they are trying to broaden the viewing base, make it less blokish etc.

Then you have the sky sports news readers....holy moly.....

I think female presenters are there to appeal to the target audience rather than broaden the player base :-)

As opposed to being there for being good presenters in their own right?

  • Joanne Cantwell is a heck of a lot better than some of her male counterparts!

    She is.

You get the impression that Tom McGurk only turns on the rugby the odd time when there's nothing else on.

funny that, i heard there is little or no interest in rugby in the RTE box during games off camera.
