As a rough ball park how many acres of silage would you count as needed in pit/round bales to keep a herd of 60 all year round milkers for a 5-6 month winter and in at night probably september and october also. E.G would you say an acre per cow would be a good ballpark guide??

AS a rule of thumb 2 acres will feed 3 cows for five month winter

I'd say you're on the money there. Probably get away with the same acre cut twice IYKWIM.
