Don't see the point to be honest, and to remove GC support and WiFi, can't see this being a big hit of a console.

Got a very 80s, toyish look about it.

As o1s1n mentioned elsewhere, the fact that this is very likely to be a terrible seller, means it could likely in the future be quite rare. I'll say no more ;)

It's just a budget console, made to cash in on those who want to game, or more likely, want to get their little'uns a console, but can't afford any of the big boys. Harmless, and it'll bleed the last of the Wii-brand, perhaps finally tipping sales over 100 million.

Sure, you could pick up an origi-Wii second hand for a good price, but I never doubt the power of 'oh! it's new, and shiny, and cheap!.

    Is Canada-only right now.
I'd assume they're the test market.

If it turns out to be mod-able it could be quite good!

    Mini-Wii

I'm pretty surprised by this to be honest. As others have mentioned, it may be a sought after collectible in future, much like the Virtual Boy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭turnfan

If only I bought that GameBoy Micro for €30 all those years ago.
This has a collectible feel about it already.:)

This reminds me of the time sony released a PSP model that was cheap and the wifi had being removed from the device. This is a good thing for people that want to just play the wii and not the online features clearly.

I picked up both of those up when they were being sold off cheap, so will keep an eye on this (if only to wind up the OH ...)

I wonder how much it'll cost to get one shipped here

Surely it will be released here in Europe at some point? Depends on the retailer?

If it flops in Canada, which it surely will, they may decide not to bother releasing it elsewhere.

It would be a stupid move to not release it in europe.

If it flops like the VirtuaBoy (but let's be honest that is very unlikely) it'll never make it over to us. But it could have a bad enough reception that they won't bother.

It will have to seriously undercut the cost of the "blue" Wii (which will have a big price drop surely after the Wii U is up and running).

I think your under the illusion Nintendo give a damn about Europe :D Seriously though, after admitting the other day that they are officially finished supporting the Wii with 1st party titles...I doubt this will be a big hit, not that its meant to be or anything, but whether whatever sales they make offset the costs of producing it time will tell.

    It's a Gameboy Micro.

    My first though too :-P

Will keep an eye on this, looks kinda cool. Would want to be cheap, though.

If it ever gets released here and only costs €99, I think I'll pick one up, never open it and then fast forward to ten years time (I have a 'Click' remote control) and sell the bastard for millions!! MWA HA HA HA HA!!! But seriously, it looks cool enough to be worth a pretty penny in a few years time.

Totally useless, but i want one, just to have.
Love the colouring. The WiiU should have this colouring.

Its like a CD player, opens on top?
Also, its just like the Gamecube, only plays Wii games, just like the Gamecube just plays Gamecube games(excluding the GBPlayer of course)

Loads of Canadian Parents will pick this up for their 4 year olds i would think. Not aimed at gamers at all.

I would totally buy this. COME ON NINTENDO YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO! :D

I'll be sad if they don't release it here, it looks like an awesome collectable to have! :)

    Master of the Universe

might be worthwhile keeping an eye in ebay canada. If theyre not selling well, you may see a retailer dump a load up there for cheap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 76 ✭✭tcjpmcd

What's the release date for these again? I may just keep an eye on ebay then..

I've put a letter in a bottle and dropped it off at dollymount strand. If one reached here from Canada, one can get back. I've sellotaped an old pound coin inside and I'm eagerly awaiting a response.

I've an uncle living in Canada...could it be time to reel in a favour?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

The girlfriend is currently in Canada, and will probably see this post...

    ;)

I take it she knows we're best mates & have to have all the same stuff yeah? Cool :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,063 ✭✭✭shuffles03

Maybe I should have addressed the bottle to her. Will I send another one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Canada are very clean and are pretty strict about littering, so I'd say not to.

Best Buy is a half hour bus ride away. Nobody is getting a wii mini unless someone wants to cough up for a limo :pac:

That's what I'm thinking, especially when it's not scheduled for a European release yet.

I'd consider getting one for collection purposes, but I probably won't. It will probably sell terribly so it may have some collectible value.
