'holiday' on dole?

    Hi all,

quick question - hubby submitted the online form for holidays while on the dole, but haven't heard anything back from them at all (apart from an online screen saying that the request had been submitted).

Anyone know what happens after submitting the form?

The current sign-on date falls in the middle of our holidays, so I'd expect them to send a new date? Or at least some sort of confirmation? Or can we assume that things will be ok, and the payment will be in the post office when we return?

    Cheers!

usually if you sign on date falls during hols, and you submit the form, you just skip that sign on date. But, assume nothing! Call them :)

:) in fairness there's plenty of reasons why someone might have to miss a signing on date, and need to avail of the 'holidays'

Yes but you can tell straight away this person is a bitter person who thinks that anyone on the dole cant have or do anything and should be given food stamps and blah blah blah

I used that online form last year and my payment was stopped. Apparently nobody bothered to check it. You are better off ringing or calling into the local DSP office.

If you want to make sure, just give it about a week since you sent it and go down to reception and confirm it. But yeah, far as I remember you get up to 14 days and you can miss a sign on date once you fill out the form. And the money'll be there in the post office on the next payment day you get back.
