Hi there , wondering did anyone had such a problem or knows how to deal with it.

Have 2 laptops, both broken :D

so here it goes laptop number 1:

HP Compaq Presario felt from table, so obviously was physically damaged.. Was not showing pics correctly and pictures where going out of the screen, lots of white lines on the screen etc. but when connected to external monitor, monitor shows everything fine.. So purchased new screen , changed it , still same, windows loading screen shows green , bit of DOSS style and when in the windows again colors are not right and out of screen so cant do much there, cant even close the tabs, as X is out of reach and sight.. So what else could i do after changing the screen :/

    Laptop number 2:
Toshiba, turns on, no sound, screen does not show any life , but lights go on.. No idea what that could be and why..

    Any help appreciated...

laptop 1 - possible faulty or loose cables connecting the screen to the motherboard

laptop 2 - try plugging an external screen into the laptop

if u see an image on the external screen then the laptop screen is blown or has a loose or damaged cable connecting the screen to the motherboard

if u dont see an image on the external screen the graphics chip is blown and you will need to replace the motherboard

also if the laptop doesnt even boot to bios stage it's possible a capacitor on the motherboard is blown or the cpu is blown or the ram is faulty (though usually faulty ram will give a beeping sound or bluescreen of death when loading the os

If the new screen is just showing odd colours and is displaying in a resolution that doesn't match the physical size of the screen then the display settings possibly need adjusting. In addition it might require a different driver if it is not exactly the same make/model as the original screen.

If you press the windows button can you get into control Panel and check the screen settings.
