    Hi

I'm going on a sking trip next February and I'm organising it myself independently. I've booked an apartment through a UK holiday company based in the resort. The company I booked through look genuine, I spoke to them on the phone, looked up reviews of the apartment before paying. I had to pay in full because the terms and conditions say that if booking within 8 weeks of the trip. I have a full receipt by email.
I've payed for things up front before like flights, hotels etc. But I just wondered if this holiday company go bust in the mean time where would I stand on making a claim on any travel insurance? I didn't have travel insurance booked at the time of booking the apartment, I usually take it out a few weeks before I depart.

Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this. Maybe I'm being paranoid.

Check with your Credit Card company they may cover the insolvency of the Travel Agent

Like you I usually book by travel insurance just prior to actually travelling. But this year I discovered that you might not be covered for things that were booked prior to the insurance being taken out. The agent I spoke to said that my insurer would only repay the costs incurred since taking the insurance. As a result I didn't book the flights until the insuance was in place. So it would be best to check with the insurer first, rather than assume. I know that different insurance carriers have different rules, so I don't think there would be a blanket yes or no answer.

Is the provider a member of ABTA or similar? That would mean you'd be covered in case of the company going bust.
