The Chinese are trying to get into the sports coupe market, as usual it seem to be derived from existing cars and seems to be their answer to the GT86 and Hyundai Genesis Coupe. Its a 2.4l, 160 hp, rear wheel drive. A bit under powered for my liking and we probably wont see it over here but if it was release and at a very cheap price tag it could do well.

A decent and sporty interior. Techy. Screen is placed very low for maximum distraction. Red air vents a nice touch.

I assume their translator f'ed up and that is supposed to be minimum distraction?

They've just built a Hyundai coupe with a bodykit...

Will there be a big golden sticker on the underside of the car saying "MADE IN CHINA"??

Jasus, trying to copy the american automotive industry from the 60s won't get them too far.
Next thing we'll hear they have released a sport model with a 6.7 v8 putting down 230bhp through a wonderful 3 speed autobox made primarily of chocolate and rice crackers.

It is way nicer than their other attempts (linked in article), but only cos the base car they decided to copy is nicer. :D

Nothing new here imo, just another Chinese knock off. Probably has a terrible safety/crash rating to go with it.

But just remember, the early Jap cars that came to Europe were crap. Well built crap but crap. Now, 40 years later look where they are.

China has a name for shoddy but China will produce non shoddy when required. They will compete well in the marek for white goods cars.

I did mention white goods in relation to China but of course also meant that Japanese white goods cars are up with white goods cars from anywhere.

To be fair, they have managed to produce some useful cars, Evo, NSX, GTR. Noting genuinely innovative though, they simply execute other peoples concepts extremely well.

I love how half of the interior is ripped straight out of the Hyundai Coupe. Stay classy China.

Majority of 90 era cars still on our roads are japanese, there hardly crap if they outlast the rest of the worlds cars. You by a nissan/honda/toyota you are almost guaranteed 100k + miles out of it without paying full attention to the service intervals.
I'm not slating other car makers but give the chinese a few years and they will be on par.
Yes the above is a shoddy knockoff with a hamster for an engine but "rome wasn't built in a day"

I think the GTR is completely original, in regards Japan, yes they used to be known for poorly copied designs but they became a power house in the 90's and they would be my cars of choice over German offerings, the Koreans are in the same boat but not there yet, as in their cars were often cheap ****boxes but in recent years they have upped their game and offer good value with lots of extras. China is still starting out and as long as they follow the model set by the other Asians, then we may be seeing the made in China badge differently in 10 years time.

That interior looks like it was coated in glue and fired through a branch of Halfords....

Sorry for continuing the derailment of the thread but I think toyota really upped the ante to other car makers of affordable family cars when they introduced the corolla.

Looks almost dated already but maybe thats because its a Hyundai Coupe knock off. The interior is pretty tacky looking...

    Look, it's simple. It's shyte.

As indicative of the 'quality' of both the design - and importantly - build, have a look at the shed in the background of the first photo, here:

    jac-heyue-sc-china-1.jpg

No, not the building Shed, the car Shed - aka 'Smart' car.

As you know, Smart don't build cars in China, and when in Europe they're not made out of a Halfords DIY fibreglass kit and then left outside in the rain for some 15yr old to handsand down with wet'n'dry.............

Think I jest ? 'fraid not - I know where there are two of those things near me.............

...actually, on reflection the name of this thread is a complete..........red (sic) herring.

I know we can report posts, but I'd love to report the name of the thread on the grounds that the item in question bears no relation to it.....

Makes me think that tracing paper must be a huge seller in China.

The rear lights are a complete ripoff .... but this is china "design" to a tee, they see something nice and copy it.

I wouldn't buy a Chinese designed or built car in a fit.

Not there yet, China. Keep at it though, you'll get there eventually.

To be fair, they're miles ahead of us. :p

Rear end of a Ferrari, rear 3/4 lines of a Lamborgini, side vents from an Audi R8, front grill from A Nissan GTR etc etc:rolleyes:

China is becoming a world super power....I have yet to understand why no Chinese car manufacturers have hired project engineers/designers from established manufacturers because if they did, I see no reason why they couldn't make original and main stream cars.

I'd say its along the lines of being able to buy a designer but not being able to buy a reputation.

Everything said regarding Chinese cars was said about Japanese cars in the 70s.

The 240z was a cheap copy of the E-type.

It was also reliable, well handling and fast.
It's a long nose coupe so it was gonna suffer people calling it a copy but now it's a strong car in it own right and Z cars have a huge fallowing.
Not quite the same with the straight copies coming from China.
