OMAC were providing the cover. Minimal cost.

cost aside, 2 ambulances for 15 riders. they were expecting a high attrition rate.

Pity there wasn't a bit more about it, they would have gotten a good crowd for the cause. My first thought was that it must have been an EU minister cycle with the amount of support.
    Anyway cheers for the explanation.

Same here, i and 4 others did the 50 Km route in reverse, would have been no problem to sign up for a good cause. Slap on the wrist for their publicist.

I think I passed ye in the car, 2 of ye had just pulled into a yard at the side of the road near 5 mile bridge, probably for a regroup. When I saw the other group 5mins later southbound I was wondering if ye were part of the same thing and going to turn at the magic roundabout. Thought it strange though that they had all the support and ye had none. Now I see though.
On a similar note the squad car coming up from Kinsale was running late, he had to overtake me on a continuous white line on a bad section to get down to meet the group.

yep i was in that southbound group, and we saw about 20 other guys in various groups out, just found a facebook link for the cycle, shame it wasn't publicised more, maybe next year.

They'd a van pulled in Belgooly so that might have been why they were in a hurry
